348s are so beautiful. Especially the Speciale's with the rear light grill fixed up and the matching trim. Love the way they look.
I miss my NSX also. It looked great, was easy to mod. and dare I say seemed a tad faster than my 348. Before every one jumps me, I haven't "beat" my 348 yet, and it has been 18 months since the NSX. With that said, there are times I look around for another NSX to add to the garage, but (and a big BUT.) I would rather put a 360, or 328, tr, etc... there instead. Nothing feels better than the real deal. My wife doesn't give me as big a smile as my ferrari (hopefully she isn't reading this). Buy the NSX enjoy it, save your money, do alot of research then come and join the brotherhood when you are ready. How will you know when you are ready? When you are driving your NSX and think to yourself, how does it get any better than this? And a FERRARI pulls up next to you........
I agree - you'll only know how much you wanted the Ferrari once you are sitting in your NSX and keep wishing you had made the other choice. Of course you could try the NSX and when the Ferrari pangs start anew you can trade up to a 348.
Maybe you get a shiver down your spine when a FERRARI pulls up next you. Maybe you live in Wankerville, too. I know I do...Miami Beach, also called South Beach, where your 10 year old FERRARI is about as impressive as the 5-er you hand the bouncer to park it out front. I'll take my 2005 Honda NSX over your dime-a-dozen F car ANY DAY. Except the Enzos... I truly love those, and only see them a few times a month. Jeez they're loud!
I have a 996 TT that will embarrass most Ferraris. It's the fastest thing I have driven and stops fast too. I can make it faster easily by dialing up the boost depending on my budget. Minor (but costly) changes can net me well over 500Hp from a stock 415 Hp configuration. Try that with any road going Ferrari. Okay, the Porsche is a killer, big deal, yadayada. I am shopping for a F355 nevertheless. It's not all about the Hp or speed. Who needs a 3 second 0-60 car anyway? The TT is just too damned refined and the styling is blasé for me. Ferrari rulz! (Even in South Beach banker dude).
What he said, like totally. What he said, like, absolutely. What he said, the OP got good advice. Owned a 911. Dreamed about a Ferrari for a long time then bought one. Thought about a Lotus. Pondered an Aston-Martin. NSX didn't cross my mind. Not in the dream car category, although it's a reliable car.
No Ferrari is cheap to maintain........and 360's are more common than the 348. By the way nice first post on a Ferrari forum...........good way to make new friends!
(Just when you thought this thread had almost bottomed out... who has the troll graphic handy?) Not a real educated comment, unless market value is your main criterion for rating cars. 348s have the whole raw feel that Ferrari (and everyone else) eventually lost. You need to spend less time on the "gold chain" factor and more time driving. FWIW, there are many of us on this board who could swing a more expensive Ferrari, but instead bought what we wanted.
Good one! FWIW I live in the Palm Beach area, and there are about the same amount of 360 / NSX around here. Very rare to see a 348 (in almost two years I have seen 4 total). BT
Im not sure which is more rare around Toronto, a 348 or an NSX. But no question, there are way more 360s and 430s around than either. I appreciate and agree with what Bullfighter wrote. Which is why I chose my NSX. Everyone values different things in cars. Some will cast aside everything aside and buy the Fcar that doesnt perform as well, has a lesser interior, has lesser build quality and is not nearly as dependable over an NSX. Others will buy the car that works for them. How do you know which camp you're in? If your Fcar had a Honda badge on it, but was otherwise unchanged, would you have it? I bet there's more than a minority of you here who would not.
A glib comment at best . So in concurrence with your view.....a 288GTO, F-40, F-50, 348,some F355's etcetera are not worth owning because they are "ten years old"??? LOL Age in an f-car is irrelevent, the "old" ones are mostly owned by those who love the marque and its heritage and could not bother less with what those of callow sense have to say about their cars. BTW, Did you forget how "old" your "2005 NSX" is??
Its unchanged from the 02+ NSX, which are slightly changed (better spec'd engine, higher grade aluminum chassis, revised suspension and improved wheels) from 97+ NSXs which were greatly changed (new engine, new drivetrain, plus lots of other things),from 95+ NSXs which were somewhat different (targa) than 91+ NSXs . It is not correct to suggest that the car was not significantly improved during its production. The 02+ car completely destroyes the earlier cars, as it should given that it is 10 years newer, and it is noticably faster than a 97+ car. Did it change as much as the Fcar comparable (348 to 360)? No way. But it did become a better car. It started from a higher baseline too, dont forget.
Well. the guy made no reference to technical worth when making his "ten year old FERRARI" comment. So using his imbecilic remarks as reference, I don't believe he was capable of elaborating as you have.
Here we go on the performance issue. I don't have the exact #'s, but if memory serves '91 0-60 for an NSX is around 5.7 sec. Very similar to '91 348. A properly set-up 348 will handle as well if not better than a similar year NSX. Start talking 360 or 430 and there is no comparison on performance. You have changed the thread from the original question. The NSX is a better value than a 348. There are several early '90's examples for sale in lower $30K range. Recent Hemmings magazine said in $25K -$27K range. I'm not sure that $ gets you into a 308 and I have not seen any 348's in that range. On cars.com there were 3 or 4 NSX's with over 100k miles. You don't see that in a Ferrari. Is the NSX more reliable? Yes. Better value for $? Probably. Less expensive to maintain? Definitely. Will the NSX hold it's value like a Ferrari? Doubtful. Is it superior in performance to similar model year Ferrari? No. All things being equal would I rather have an NSX? Absolutely not. There is something about Ferrari that the Acura will never have regardless of pedigree, race heritage, or performance.
Yeah. Amen. This thread needs to go away. The OP has already bought and sold several cars since it started.
Has anyone priced out Honda replacement parts? I replaced both a water pump and alternator and was shocked at the cost of these genuine Honda parts (Acura really). The Ferrari replacements on my 348 were actually less!!! Of course, u probably don't need to replace the Honda parts too often, but still! Get into 308/328 replacements (Fiat or Alfa parts) and the cost is even less. Just some perspective for those who think Honda cars are less expensive to fix. Only sometimes is this true (okay, most times ).
Lets see a picture of your car with you holding Ski-banker written on something RICE BOY. Your idea of a NSX is you lowered civic with type R badges. We see your type everyday. you wanted a rise out of us, hold on............I'm back, just went down to my garage and looked at my real ferrari, not something make to look like a Ferrari, not something thats speed is compared to a Ferrari. Do you want to know what used to drive me crazy, when explaining my NSX, no one knew what it was, so I had to tell them, "you know, Acura's supercar, it is a Japanese FERRARI"
