http://www.racersranch.com I think the scoop on this one is that they intend to fund the build by selling the housing lots for $250K BEFORE the track gets built. Too much of a leap of faith, I think, to get people to fork over that kind of money. If this is true, I say this one never gets built.
As a home owner at MSR, I think I would want to see the track and some amenities first, then I'd think about a big investment. Look for a large party in perhaps October with water ballon target contest aimed at ittybittyteenyweenybendvilla
Just remember that I have two dogs that have a lot of fiber in their diet. My return fire will not have water in them. I am now working with N. Korea to develop a testing program.
I met with these guys last year, they were trying to raise capital at that point. Interesting location selection. At what point will there be too many track projects underway?
Keith, what do you think about Eagles Canyon? http://www.ferrari101.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96919 I think Linda was talking about you here... Linda told me her husband did a DE at MSR and after a part session came in out of disgust and didn't drive it again.
Wow, they are breeding like rabbits.... Are 'peaceful' and 'tranquility' generally associated with race tracks?
Is anyone heading out to Wills Point for the Racer's Ranch groundbreaking today? I'm heading out there with a couple of the guys from RUF.
Went to the groundbreaking, and was fairly impressed. 1,600 acres of land, with 1,300 put in to a conservancy with great tax saving advantages. It means you will keep that land natural, and never develop on it. Have a friend who has already sold out a 2,500 acre hunting/fishing development near Hawkins, and now is under construction on 5,500 acres NW of Lake Whitney. From what he has told me, the tax savings comes right off your tax bill, not your taxable income. Don't know the structure of the future Club Membership only, but the original 37 lots will be $275,000, pretty steep for a ditchdigger. Got a chopper ride around the property that made the trip down worth it. Met several land developers who are involved, and that boosted my confidence that this won't be a poor-boy deal. We'll wait and see.
I agree with Phil, this looks like they are at least heading in the right direction. Definitely not inexpensive for the lots, though. I skipped the helicopter in favor of a ride on the "track" in a Cayenne. They are considering some changes from the exisiting layout, but as it is it looks to be a fun track. With both sections open together, the back straight is 3600 feet long. It will be very interesting to watch this and other similar ventures as they progress. I hope they are all successful!
I also hope all the tracks become reality - more choices and places to race. Home track for me is MSR right now.
Bump My Dad tells me that they are currently airing radio commercials for a new track on some AM stations here in the metroplex. He asked me if Motorsports Ranch had added an equestrian center... I am guessing it is this project that is being advertised on the radio, since it has the equestrian center.
My understanding was one of the properties eagles canyon was looking at next door is an equine center they might have bought it with intent but I Don't know... AM radio... Wow um is that smart marketing?? I mean AM Talk Radio is not exactly the listner demographic a project like this needs..
