I thought it would be interesting to start a thread about kimi and ferrari. So when is he going to join the Ferrari and start testing? I can't wait to hear something new.

I think Kimi is gonna rock out in 2007 assuming management change at Ferrari doesn't "F" up the car. I love all the changes going on. I think it's gonna be a very entertaining year.

We need pics of Kimi in an Ferrari overalls.

When does Kimi's contract officially start? Is there an exact date he will be seen in Ferrari garb? How does the whole thing work?

Last I had heard Kimi will start testing for ferrari in Beginning 2007. I am sure that once he starts we will get out first look at Kimi in Ferrari Red. I do have one question...What happens to MS #2? Does it go to Ferrari and Kimi takes it, or does Massa take it, or does Ferrari leave the number out as a sign to MS for a job well done and his number will stay off the grid next year?

Ferrari doesn't get #2, McLaren does. Alonso is taking #1 to McLaren therefore #2 will go to the second McLaren driver.

I believe that Kimi stays under contract to McLaren until December 31, I doubt Ron Dennis will release him to Ferrari before then. Kimi won't test until January 2007.

I think they have that option but if I am not mistaken, Ferrari usually takes 27 & 28 if they are not champions.

Oh? They ran 5 & 6 this year. The FIA determines the numbers and next year they get 5 & 6 again

    1,2 McKlunkers
    3,4 Renault

This must be a relatively recent rule change. They ran 27 & 28 for years with Alesi and Berger.

I think Kimi will have a great season at Ferrari, probably better than Felipe, though I do like him alot. I can't say I really like Kimi, especially as he replaced MS. The guy could at least crack a smile, and I can never understand him when he talks, his accent is so heavy. He is a very fast driver however, and along with Felipe I think Ferrari will bring home the CWC. Alonso also has a very fast car, and it will be a great season. However now that MS is gone, I will only cheer for a team, I will still like other drivers, but only cheer for a team...Ferrari. Australia will definitely be missing something when the lights come on next year...

So even though Ferrari was second in both constructors and drivers somehow they get 5&6, I know that the driver with the WDC gets 1 and his partner 2, then it goes by constructors. Personally i think each team should adopt their own numbers, Ferrari should get 47(year of conception) and 91 (# of MS wins). The FIA needs to fix this rule with numbers because its not fair for either Ferrari or Renault. How do they decide who gets the last numbers for Spyker and Super Aguri neither got any points.

Renault did beat them in the WCC, so they should get the next numbers in the series.

Isn't the locations of each team in the pits also based on standings the previous year?

Didn't i hear during the speed broadcast that McLaren started making Alonso gear with the number 5 not 1? Renault might run 0 and 2 if Alonso doesn't take number one. Ferrari 3 & 4 and McLaren 5 & 6 if i'm guessing right.

Yep - I think the constructor champion gets the pick of the either the first or lost pitstall and everyone else follows suit one after the other
