Let a friend of mine borrow my BMW 645 and he hit another car... Clearly my friend's fault.

Who's insurance will cover My car to be repaired? Mine or His?

    Btw, He has Full Coverage.

    thx

your kidding right.... You own a 645 and do not know the answer to this question?... Sorry just got to bust your B***s a little. The answer is your friend. and if it was me I would insist on an accident report from the police. And then I would insist on a lawyer and getting a new friend. Then insist your friend become very humble and appolagetic in this situation. If this friend is in any way not cool with this then better get a lawyer quick. JJ

Well just because I own a few cars doesnt make me an insurance expert... ! Getting a lawyer and a New friend...???? Some people put a value on friendships... But I value my friendships. It's just a car and accidents happen... That's what Insurance is for... I just wanna know which one is paying out, so i know who to press!

And the info I have recieved thus far has been pointing towards my insurance having to cover the damage on my car and possibily his liability insurance will cover the car he hit...although this happened earlier this evening so I have not had a chance to speak to my insurance...

Anyone know for sure the coverages for unlisted drivers

Sorry to give you the Bad News, In California insurance follows the car not the driver. If you were not insured your friend insurance becomes primary. Think before you hand over your keys next time. This is an easy lesson.

    Do you feel luck!

You are, sir, a good friend. We learn sharing our toys in the sandbox, and some of us are fortunate to get enjoyment from the pleasure others receive when enjoying our toys! Double the pleasure. I feel sorry for people who did not learn to share! Bummer about your car. Hope you can keep your friend, which is much harder to replace than cold metal. Good luck to you.

If you gave him permission to drive your 645, and I assume you did, then your insurance covers the accident. If you have a deductable, then your friend should reimburse you for that amount.

MarcG is correct. In Calif., the primary insurance is the CAR, not the driver.

+1. Your coverage will fix the other guy's car and pay for injuries, too.
Good news? Your company cannot increase your rates for this, but they may want you to sign an exclusion deleting your 'friend' from any future coverage on your policy.

And yes, I am an expert. :)

A side question, being that AJ's friend is at fault, wouldn't this increase his premium since his insurance will have to pay for damages for both cars?

Bummer, sorry to hear of this. At least we can use you as the "friend" that lent his 645 to another friend that wrecked it and now it's his insurance that has to pay for it. So, sorry I can't, my insurance doesn't allow it anyway :)

Don't worry about that guy, his big sister is chasing him again. So now he can come up with another excuse to explain the black eye! ;)

Damn! It must be tough being a closet homophobe! :(

Hmm, wasn't really trying to be witty. However, I can see why you're getting the wrath here. :)
