Cadilac Escalade. Today's "Bling" machine. (As a Ferrari was back then.)

(Notice that there weren't a lot of car chases with the Ferrari on Magnum? That's what comes from using a real one on the set. ;))

Which was your favorite? The chase scene with the 928 or with the GTO?

He'd definitely be driving whatever Robin Masters and Higgins allowed him to drive. Beggars can't be choosers. :) I agree though that if I was to produce a modern version of Magnum, I'd put him in a 430 spyder with the red/tan combo. That's the only thing that makes sense.

I sure hope there were a couple production assistants waiting with outstretched arms to grab the targa top so it didn't scratch up the back too badly! :)

A little trivia about that car used in the opening credits: It was driven past my house here in Birmingham on the way to Hawaii before production began and was stuck in traffic from an Alabama/South Carolina game. I have always thought that was cool.

    True story.

I'd like to see him driving a 288GTO in the show. (red/tan of course)
Robin Masters was a collector of fine art, why not classic exotic cars too ?

That was pretty funny watching him just push the top off. I was expecting it to land on the back and fly off when he took off.

I would like to see a 288 GTO also. It reminds you of the old Magnum, but is faster to keep up with today's cars. But then there is the no targa open top issue...hmmm.

Tom Selleck is old enough for a Rolls these days; a young Magnum today might be given a Gallardo. Not as good a car as the 430 but better on TV I think.

The music is WAY different, I like the series music much better.

Notice after he popped off the top, he had much better head room :), his head appeared to be sticking out above the car lines.

The CROSS superimposed was definately different. Was the original pilot to have some sort of religious side notes or side plots? It appeared to be a derivative of an eastern orthodox cross, didn't think that was part of the show, but maybe it was going to be?

A red tan 575 SuperAmerica would be a good alternative. Topless and kind of classy.

The cross was the emblem used on the team ring he, Ric, and TC had from Vietnam. That's all, no religious implications.

I actually have one. I keep it on my 308 key ring.

Maybe a second car. Used of course. But Higgins would insist on back seats for the used car. How about a late run Mondi t Cabrio so the lads, Zeus and Apollo, could get carted to the vet. And Rick and TC could both ride shotgun with Thomas. Rick in the back.

They should do it like a spoof, like "The Brady Bunch" movies.

Dressed the same way, the "stash", the same car.

Can you imagine trying to keep up with the new cars.:D

Maybe a Gallardo Spyder... it would have to be open topped.

But I'd guess Robin Masters, the novelist, would stick with the romance of the Ferrari marque.

Those tops get real expensive to replace after they go flying off the rear of the car. Of course it would not just slide off, the rear locks would cause it to flip. Did you notice one of the dogs bouncing off the fence after it closed?

Though there are times when you might think so, if you actually watch the series (I"ve got all the released DVD sets), he IS NOT. There was at least two times when Magnum was talking to Robin Masters on the phone while Higgins was in the room with Magnum, *and* a time when Magnum muses about a meeting he had with Robin, though we don't see it and there are some inconsistencies. Higgins ostensibly admits to being Robin at one point at the end of the series, but then recants. We also hear the voice of Robin Masters (voiceover is Orson Welles) in early episodes.
