I agree. I watched the series from beginning to end during it's original run. In the episode "Italian Ice" (first or second season) the crazy blonde girl was having breakfast with Higgins and was talking to him about his relationship with Robin Masters when she was a little girl. She knew them both years earlier. What about the J. "Digger" Doyle episode? Robin was actually in that one several times in person, not just on the little red phone - FAR away from Hawaii and Higgins.

I have always thought that was the biggest evidence. The whole Higgins/Masters thing was just drawn up at the end to jazz things up a bit. Anyone who really knew the series in the beginning can tell that the writers never thought of taking that course early on. That twist always bugged me because it was obvious that it was never meant to be that way originally

We all know how Magnum was really paying the bill for driving the car.

Even for a Ferrari i don't think i could do it.

Now that's takin' one for the team.

    Hahaha

    He'd drive an NSX. :)

No seriously, I'm guessing a Maserati Spyder. Definitely not a 430 but in some ways has more mystique in my opinion.

BTW, the cars in the Miami Vice movie leave a lot to be desired...they could have done SOOO much more with that than they did. That white TR was iconic.

That white TR is now sitting at the Sunrise Flea Mkt. in Ft. Lauderdale Florida right next to the dippin' dots vendor...kinda ironic in a way.

That's because Michael Mann just picked out the current models like the F430, and the BMW 6 series. In the series, he imaginatively reached back for the Daytona and old Caddy for PMT. And of course the bugmobile.

(NSX? Wait a second, isn't that some soul-less Honda poseurmobile for Silicon Valley nerds? ;) )

I wonder if Donald Belisarius developed the concept for "Magnum, P.I." from watching the early '60's tv show "Hawaiian Eye"..

I also remember Higgins confessing to be Robin Masters in the final episode (or did Magum just figure it out?), and, as I recall this was not repudiated by the end of the episode. I never saw the finale when I was a kid and the series originally aired, and when I did see it a few years ago I was horribly disappointed. The ghost Magnum solving the mystery while his body is in a coma and then walking away into the clouds was more suited to "Touched by an Angel" or some similar drivel than Magnum PI.

It was at Rick's wedding. Magnum shows up late in full uniform. He has re-upped into the Navy. He has his daughter, Lily back. Lily is the flower girl at the wedding. At the reception Higgins tells Magnum: "Magnum, what I said to you about being Robin Masters.....I lied!" with a smirk. No further discussion goes on. Go figure.

the ring that the team wears in the show is the cross of lorraine...from the south of france. i believe there was was some mention of the reference to the film the maltese falcon....but if i recall correctly it is also the symbol of the french resistence in wwII. that was the reason for them choosing it.i have the ring and the same cross on a chain.i think it had something todo with the resistances motto....of never surrender??!....and as for the car he would drive today.....360 or a 430 red n tan of course!!!!!

I live near Gainesville, GA. I used to live in Gainesville. Back in 1991 I did some work for a guy named Mark Papp. He owned a 308, red in color, that he claimed was used in the series. I was a beautiful car, and he did drive it some.
I remember seeing it advertised during 1996 or 1997 in the paper. He was asking around 34 or 37k. I can't remember the exact figure, but I remember is was in the 30s. He also advertised the connection to the show and that he had proper documentation to prove it. Funny thing is, I actually could have purchased it, but I thought, oh that is too expensive to maintain, and I am a painter/paramedic, and that kind of car is for doctor/lawyer, etc.
