Were they really genuine about the car rob? Or tyre kickers?? Did they know anything about the BB? Or they just came along for a look/ride? When I bought my 348, I did my homework before hand and it made it easy for me and the seller when the time came to inspect/drive the car. :)

No they were car guys, the old one nice guy but Ithink the boxer was to hard, grunty for him and the others all owned softer Ferrari car's,Ive owned a lot of fast cars, race cars and the boxer is the ONLY car that ive ever drivern that requires FULL concerntration when drivern under power, its such a great chalange to drive well,a big balls car(all that rear engine, weight stuff is so true when drivern hard)

Good decision Rob. Price seemed too cheap. In a couple more years you will get $200k for it

I'm pleased that you're staying amongst us Rob and equally pleased you're giving your car a second chance by putting it back to standard suspension. I've seen many people modify older Ferraris to improve track times, whilst subtracting from road driving enjoyment. While you're doing it, investigate Eibach dual stage springs for the rear, which give the initial compliance you want but reduce the bottoming. Transformed our Stratos, which is another car with too much weight over the rear.

BB's are blue chip investments (I know you don't care) but will always trail Daytonas. Drive a good Daytona and you'll know why (cue the "its a truck" posts from PP!) a front engined V12 just works better as a high performance grand tourer. Daytonas are heavy and a bit numb below 60mph, but they come alive at 70 and the acceleration thereafter is relentless in a manner that no other car of the period can do. It also takes a brave man to provoke the rear end of a mid-engined car on public roads, but you soon feel comfortable with doing it with a squeeze of your right foot in a Daytona, not the least because the LSD works so progressively. Its not the quickest way around, but it sure is entertaining.

The only other car I've owned that did this so nicely, if not better, was my Queen Mary. I scratch my head at people going ape over 330GT's, when a 365 is a much better drive (IRS vs. live axle). Of course a QM needs to oversteer easily, as the turning circle is so woeful!

BB's are a great body design, with a major "sense of occasion". Any mid-engined car conjures up images of group C racers, the rear view of a BB is about the most evocative this side of a Ford GT40.

Well done RB. And yes, I think if you keep it you'll get to see some appreciation too.

    well it is!

i did lots of high speed long distance driving and a BB is sensational.

a daytona above 70mph is just like a truck...but one doing over 70mph!

anyway, the speed limit's less than that, usually.

people say the same about a 911,most of em are readers of what boozed up journo's think.Ive drivern a lot of rear engine cars and I reckon on good soft or new rubber a boxer is fine, what i like about em is the share grunt, torque and the speed they go at,even now their a quick old thing, long legs and fantastic speed in the higher gears(all gears)having said that i think the best ive seen was about 220ks.

the thing I like most about BB's is that most people hate 'em 'cos they can't drive 'em properly...

There's not much they do very well... but they're just great overall.

bit like a big engine rear engine race car ,most people just dont get it on how to drive em.For me its just driving em on your bum feel, just ease on that throttle.Still reckon their was point to point,if you could a boxer would be a hard car to beat on a run to Sydney up the Hume, tiring yes, harder to drive then a MHOS,but give me a BB over a modern with all their driver friendly aids.

I don't find mine tiring to drive at all... quite the opposite.... a noisy busy 360 is much more tiring...

the seats in mine are SOOOO comfortable... I will add a 25 mm steering wheel spacer though.. to allow my head to be lower for better crash helmet clearance... I've got long arms, like most apes.

Find mine tiring after a couple hours, its not the tyres, springs,Its noise Bruno took off the 2 rear corner mufflers great sound but forget the radio.Think a good compromise would be orginal springs but leave the stiffer bars on.So will you be going on the next Carb/Bug run, boys reckon the guy that bought the I.G Daytona is good type and young.J.M took his two cam GTB 275 on the run,but no boxers,I asked a well repected OHOS owner why no boxers ,and he said their around a few a brokern and other owners have been waiting for a group of guys to put this type of rally, lunch, drink, talk thing togeither.Reckon's a few boxers will start to come out.

sounds like your BB needs an alignment too..

Mine has Ansa two box sports exhaust... not noisy at all...

Won't committ to weekend activities.. rather take weekday off and go to Winton/Sandown/PI/Calder etc... save weekends for family.

Na J.A did alignment last time he had it,were on tyres is evern, shoulders ok.Why do you think she needs alignment.Think Trutrack did alignment,I know she has plenty of rack, maybe that is the issue on the road.
