For all who has E gear..........do you drive in Regular mode or "Sport" mode? The manual says that driving in "Sport" mode may damage the engine faster. I am thinking of turning on Sport mode all the time...I'm getting hooked on it; but am worried that I might wear out the gears and engine prematurely. What do you think?

No, e-gear cars have a 'sport' mode which is supposed to shift much more aggressively. I saw an SE review on Fifth Gear where Tiff or whoever reviewing it said sport mode was kind of scary with how forcefully the shifts occurred and it sounded like the drive shafts were going to come through the floor. :)

I know what it is, it doesn't say no where it'll deteriate the engine life span. not when i flipped through the owner's manual any way. the only bit where it says "not recommanded for frequent use" was the use of launch control

Maybe you should check your manual again then. It specifically says:

*) [Controls section] Frequent and excessive operation in this mode can result in premature wear or damage to the engine and drive train components.

*) [Driving tips section] Frequent aggressive acceleration can cause damage to the vehicle drive train and risk an accident and injury. Avoid such operation to keep your warranty in effect.

I thought that was the newer M-series BMW's? I think I read that the launch button didn't make it to the US market though.

The Lambo e-gear does have a pseudo launch mode though, the manual says "An abrupt full throttle application of the accelerator pedal from a sationary position when the vehicle is in Sport mode and first gear with WESP off will engage a special operational design strategy that maximizes the torque delivered to the wheels."

I love that quick rough shift ......feels very "BULLY"! Note that this is only Sport mode with ESP ON. Have yet to try it with ESP off.
Do you guys think driving in Sports mode with ESP ON will result in premature wear or damage to the engine? I know driving it with ESP OFF will toast the engine and gears faster....

I don't think having ESP off would have any effect on the engine and gears, ESP is the electronic stability program and just applies braking to specific wheels when it thinks you're losing control or thinks the car is beginning to go in a direction that is not intended, such as sliding the tail out. Sport mode though could theoretically increase clutch wear and put a strain on the engine if it's jamming through the gears aggressively.

no different...point is..the equipment handles my car why wouldn't it handle a stock unit all the time?

Yes maybe you should buy a Spider and be the first to TT it. I'll pay the first thousand to Heffner for
    you.
If you own a Gallardo you should update your profile. It currently shows you own NO cars?

How can you truly have a 'sports car' if it is not in 'sport' mode?
