Anyone here getting a PS3

Doesn't it come out in another year or something?

 

Nov 17th. If you are not on a pre-order list then forget about getting one for decent price. Currently on a blackmarket PS3 is priced at $1.8k.

 

I scored 3 out of 16 available in my area. I heard they cut back the release amount in USA by 100,000 or something like that. If you can still find some i say jump on every one you can and get the premium bundles with the 60G hd, ( they are also coming with a blue-ray talladega Nights movie as special bonus)

That's just ridiculous. I feel bad for the guy (or gal) that feels the need to pay $2k for a CONSOLE. Or the parent whose kid is threatening them with violence if they don't get one for Christmas.

I'll probably get one eventually when you can buy it at MSRP without having to camp overnight...

 

i ordered one for myself and also got a wii, dont plan on reselling them.

 

whats funny is that the people that can actually afford to spend 2k on one probably made wise financial decisions in the past to get to that point. yet, spending 2k on a video game sounds like an immature decision. camping outside of a store just shows you're determined, much different then spending a rediculous amount of money for one.

 

So a smart person without the massive financial means might just hire someone to camp out for them so they can sleep in, huh?

 

Dont pay over MSRP! Wait a minute............ this discussion bears a striking resemblance to another product we care about.... (for now)....

btw-I think the big surprise will be that PS3 sales will be flat compared to their sales expectations. The big surprise I think will be Nintendo- going for simplified gaming- games have become too complicated and thus often joyless for many.

i got both my systems at msrp.

 

I just talked to a best buy rep and he said they aren't taking Ps3 orders you have to wait outside the store on the 17th and they are gonna be sold on a first come first serve basis.

I think I might try to get one you can easily sell it for $500 over msrp on ebay.

 

lol the 17th is a Friday. Forget that, I have an early lab. My education > $500 profit.

I just hope no one gets ripped off.

 

Am I missing something?

The F1 game comes out in April, correct? Why the rush to get one now?

I wonder if these stores are going to make you buy a 'PS3 Package' in order to buy it. I bought my XBOX360 on release day at J & R Music World. Waited outside in the early morning rain for 2 hours. They handed out tickets to people on the line which accounted for all of the 360's they had in stock so you knew you were guaranteed to get one. However, they made you buy 1 of 4 different pre-made packages which cost between $700 and $1000 respectively. They gave you their choice of games, usually the crappy ones (Virtual Accountant IV, anyone?), so you would have to spend more to buy the ones you wanted (ie: Project Gotham III). I must say, it was pretty cool when I got home, booted up Project Gotham III, and drove the NY Track and saw J & R Music World in the game that looked exactly like the actual store...

The MSRP on the PS3 is more than the 360 was..I wonder if that is going to dissuade more people from buying it on release day - especially if the stores are going to do the package thing. If it does, then maybe I'll have a chance to pick one up.

 

As of right now don't even bother looking for one cause I can tell you most if not all have been accounted for. I work at the TRU off of Route 1 in Woodbridge and we were told that there only 8 open spots for PS3. They were gone in a matter of 10 minutes. Some nerds hung outside the store for 48 hours in tents.

Well that doesnt make sense. I started calling retailers at the beginning of the year and they said no lists, no pre-ordering. First come first serve when they come out.

 

There are demo systems at Toys R Us at Times Square, if anyone is interested.
