I found this picture in a norwegian car magazine. One of the readers had sent it, without any information about the pictures. Obviously its a "new" Dino, however, does anyone here know something more about it? Have to say that this Dino looks awesome!

that car is said to be some kind of a test mule of new car - because of the wider front bumper and totally different engine sound, at least that's what the photographer says

what else i have found is that it is going to be a am v8, BMW m6 and porsche 911 competitor. 400 BHP, 100 000 euros

all in all, i don't believe in all of that because i think ferrari don't have a need to make a popular model - they are in good financial position and only reducing the number of cars built, whereas introducing new 'mass' model would force them to extend the dealerships/service system

I like the way that looks. I'd like to see something like that in production.

Looks like a design study for a "retro" Dino/Ferrari. The overall body looks a lot like the 308/328. The sail panels look like the 246 GTS. Headlights have a hint of 246 as well. I like it.

Now That's a HOT looking car.

Ferrari....please stop with the retro and round shaped car designs, can we please have something wedge shaped and aggressive again???

I'm not a big fan of looking to the past with Ferrari designs.

For some manufacturer's it's great...but I'd prefer much more live, new designs for Italian supercars.

From what I've read, the new Dino will be a front engine v8 and share its engine with the new Maserati coupe...

Remember the sketches of the Vandenbrink GTO? It was based of a 599, and harks back to the style of the 250 GTO? Yeah well, that guys put out some sketches on what he thinks the new Dino should look like.

Also the Dino probably won't share that many components with any Maserati seeing as they've handed over responsibility of the brand to Alfa. It'll stick to the mid-engine layout if the 430 test mules are anything to go by.

Here is the test mule pic followed by an F430 without the rear diffuser on. Do you see any differences? I do not see much. I would guess the test mule is for a C/S version of the F430. Like others said I thought the new entry level car would have the engine in the front.

The picture you posted is the first I have seen. I like it a lot. It definitely is retro but I would be much more in favor of that car being the new dino versus the various dino drawings i have seen in magazines.

Funny your keen eye would pick up on that...
Lotus Elise designer, Mike Adams, has owned a Dino for ~15 years, I'll bet his designs are influenced heavily by his personal experience.

As far as I know the Elise designer was Julian Thompson.. who indeed has a Dino.

I really like the pic that you originally posted Paul...would be great to see them use that as the basis / foundation / starting point for the whole design and simply clean it up as needed to meet engineering / mechanical / roadworthy criteria -- yet still keep it as close to that image / concept as possible.

Oh, and with regards to the Elise...here's a great link to a 2hr20min documentary on the making of the car:

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7072924456318931568

Not sure if it's been posted here in the forum yet, but thought some of you would find it interesting (I did). It shows one of the original designers actually backing out his Dino and driving to work at Lotus. (Sorry to get off-topic).

Hi, as far as i know there won't be a CS version of the F430. And they're working on a new mid-engined (maybe front) V8. Anyway i'm not 100% certain about it.
