Sorry for the offtopic posts, but I'm just looking for additional ideas from anyone. I've got a photoshoot coming up next week and need a place with interesting architecture as a backdrop. It can't be a company/office building. Nature places with unique natural formations would be cool too.

Preferably a place with not a lot of foot traffic. My model will be wearing relatively sexy clothes (skimpy/sheer outfits) so the less people walking by, the better. :)

I have a week to find a location!

Sounds like you need a willing bouncer for crowd control :)

Some of the members houses and estates I have seen as photo backdrops look mighty impressive. There are tons of great out in the wilderness type locations. Have a scan through the Pashnit website there are some awesome photo locations on there but you would have to drive a fair distance.

How about some of the Vineyards in the Bay area?

hahaha. Does it have nice furniture?

I was thinking of hitting up Angel Island. Lots of old abandoned buildings.

I've asked members before but not enough people stepped up which is understandable. So that's why I'm in the middle of escrow on a nice big(ger) house right now. :)

If you are looking for stuff like that, there are quite a few things around. Other island ones are Treasure (though it is somewhat active because of housing). Mare Island has building like that too though there are some places that are remote. Alameda can have some decent stuff if you know where to look.

Is this going to be a daytime shoot? (i assume yes)

Daytime shoot. My model wants shots that show off her legs. She said she doesn't have enough leg shots. This is the part of shoots I hate the most. Finding a freaking location. I usually prefer nature locations.

For nature stuff I already have a great place near me. I was looking for a more industrial backdrop.

    Emeryville? Around Mandela Parkway

Downtown SJ? I'm sure there's some warehouses, maybe off The Alameda/Hedding area?

SF, near the highway construction... can't get more industrial than that ;-)

For example, check out this cool photoshoot:

The long tall windmills really go well with the tall slender models. As Paris Hilton would say, "That's HOT". :D So I'm looking for backdrops that have long lines in them.

The Empire Mine(state park)mansion and grounds in Grass Valley make for a good shoot. The grounds are covered with tall pine trees..and mansion reflection pools are decent for backdrop. Literally tons of mining/industrial artifacts on outdoor display..many unusual shapes to work with. A colleague of mine used the interior of one building in a commerical. Not many park visitors weekdays..

Hmm just did a google search for it. It does look like a very cool place. The only problem is it's just wayyy too far out to drive to for me. :(
