i read recently on a number of web sites about Ascari's new A10 (based on their KZ1). the company is claiming 0-60 of 2.8sec and some other amazing stats. add that to the fact that it is street legal (at least in england and the EU) and runs around £350,000 ($662k), would you considder it to be a valid alternative to the FXX?

link to Serious Wheels webpage on the A10
link to *************'s page about it
i've read elsewhere that the production run is limited to 50 not the 10 stated here.

*edit: sorry if this belonged in the Ferrari Discussion (not model specific) forum instead. please move if needed.

And to me, the true rival of the FXX is the Maserati MC12 Corsa.
Which, in my opinion, looks better and rides A LOT better than the Ferrari.

I believe that ascari is a good brand of super cars but I believe that ascari it is never going to manage and to have the height that makes Ferrari makes in all the years that it exist.
This is my personal opinion i dont known what did you think...
Here is the link to the page of Ascari.

i like the shape of it but it does look like a noble and does also look cheap. Why do they say it is an answer to the FXX anyway, they should wait til the next street legal ferrari supercar comes out then start trying to answer that. The FXX is not a car that is supposed to be answered or competed with, its not a competition car, its the basis for what will be in the future. A test mule. Its sort of silly to say the ascari is answering it.

I guess i have really tacky taste, because i find the lines quite appealing (must be the damned ricer in me). i think the reason they compared it to the FXX is just because its the only thing out there that it (numbers wise at least) appears to be comparable to.

i agree though that Ascari, at least for the forseeable future, will not have the name recognition that Ferrari has. the more i read about the company though, the more interesting it seems. they are much like ferrari to the effect that their road cars seem to be just for the sake of establishing a name (low production) and funding for the racing efforts (they run several KZ1 GTs) in a Spanish Gran Prix series. additionally, they have a "race resort" in southern spain, private track, garages, etc. to which you get a membership to by purhcasing one of their cars. they have a racing school there along with other company cars (open top LMP style and F1 style cars) that you can rent out for track days.

also, you guys that are saying it looks like a noble, which one are you talking about? the M10, M12, M14 or M15?

i see a slight resemblence with the M12 but much more so with the M15 which was designed after the KZ-1 (the car Ascari based the A10 on) which came out on the market in 2003.

it has a V8...i'm sorry, that disqualifies it from being in the realm of the hypercars...same with the CCX...

So that makes the F40 and 288 GTO what, chopped liver? How about the XJ220? That only had a V6.

FWIW, it might be expensive, but membership to the Ascari Race Resort is included, and that's not cheap by any means.

thats one of the dumbest things ive ever heard, ever. If the ccx isnt a hypercar then neither is any ferrari cause its faster then all of them, road cars that is.

now that, is one of the dumbest things i've ever heard, ever! are you sure that's the dumbest thing you've ever heard, ever? i'm thinking along the lines of the modern, exotic world of V-10's and V-12's, the modern Hyper car. the CCX is fast yes, given today's tech, anyone can get to an impressive hp figure and make a car go 'fast'. it's takes more than being fast to be in the realm of cars like the FXX or Enzo, Zonda, etc...that FXX challenger is silly....and hey, Koenigsegg couldn't manage to secure a V10 or V-12, so they'd figure on getting what they could and supercharge the F@#$% out of it. At first they boasted that the CCR would do over 240 with 650hp--that it would blow away the Mc F-1, but it didn't--not even close, sad, considering that's all they bragged about, so now they blow it to over 800 hp and uh oh, it beats the F-1's top speed. Aw, how sweet...But honestly, come on now, you can't tell me you think the CCX sounds anywhere as cool as the other cars...so now the block is a custom job, boo F@%#^% hoo, The 800hp engine in the FXX, now that's an engine!

so to be a "hyper car" it has to sound good? wow... that's rediculous. how does sound effect performance again?

it's the overall package...a 1000 hp Supra will dust all the mentioned cars in a straight line, but that doesn't make it an 'ultra exotic' 'hypercar', the Ultima will dust an Enzo flat out, but it's still a suped up kit car, the 248 F-1 will kill all of them in the 'performance' aspect, but it's still not a 'hypercar', etc...they're defined by more than just 'performance' even though that is one of the aspects that they're extreme in. And sound does affect performance! Just not in the way you think...Put on a set of noise canceling headphones the next time you are in your ferrari...see how much fun it is goin fast without that soundtrack:)
