Well, Ferrari could pull a "Steve Jobs" by denying everything but they are developing something.. based on the F430 platform it seems..

Looking at the linkage/control line in the photos, they could be enhancing the E-diff

Tough call on this. CEO said they wouldn't be building any V6s & wants to keep production exclusively @ 5000/year which is fulfilled by 430, 599, 612 & maybe the new CS.

The Audi R8 seems to be hitting our shores next year. Car show is coming up right? Time to trade car :(

Pistole, sorry but I couldn't understand your Flinstones relationship with Enzo's son. He was well liked by the people @ the factory (Enzo was a "hard" man) & was to develop the V6 for a class of race but early death ended his dream & Enzo was sad till the day he died. So, Enzo ordered production for a new car & continued to develop the engine to be named after his son. Many owners actually rebadged the car with the classic rectangular emblem which was technicaly wrong as it wore a Dino badge. That's what I read few years ago & here's the wikipedia version.

How much do you guys know about HongSeh's history? I hear they took the agency in 1980s & prior to that was partnered with the family that now operates Aston Martin. The Dino was well before that so who was the agent & what other early models of Ferraris were there in Singapore?

Someone mentioned there was a Lamborghini Miura here in the 1970s which the then PWD used to test the Kallang Airport runway. So, who was the agent then? We've seen some Urracos & maybe Espada around but was there ever a Countach registered? There is one under wraps in HongSeh's warehouse.

How about Porsche? GayHin? What's the deal with these dealers? You guys remember Exotic Car....

I just saw a black Aston Martin Lagonda for sale. Asking S$250K! The car is huge & long & it's sharp wedge shape looks like a spaceship out of an original Star Trek movie. The silver knobs on the dash looks like those from an 80s Hifi. One word to describe it for me "Queer".

i think gay hin was started up as a used car dealership by goh lu tee , melvin's dad who has since passed on not too long back. must have done quite well with dealing in exotics and subsequently became eurosports,as the agency for lotus, massa for alfas and then to lambos ....very impressive ! must be a source of inspiration to a lot of 2nd hand car dealers out there...

for porsches, i think it was owned by the family who ran the famous bus company back in the 70s ( too young too remember the name la) before they ran into difficulties and karsono took over the agency then...

think it's supposed to come out much later.. near end of F430 production perhaps..

i think it will be a V8 with lesser displacement.. there isn't any modern V6 Ferraris, are there?

All signs point to a new car - it's almost a certainty.

If you read carefully, Ferrari's Amedeo Felisa only said no "lower" Ferrari than F430 - he did not say that there won't be ánother cheaper brand - ie a "Dino".

My money is on the new car not being called a Ferrari and having no Ferrari badges at all. It will probably just be called "Dino" like the original car.

I will also bet that the "Dino" will probably drive well, have less electronics, and use less Aluminium. In Singapore, it would probably sell about $500,000 to $550,000, undercutting some Porsche and Aston Martin models.

But I will also bet that if you can afford a F430, you will still go for the F430 (or whatever it is called by then) rather than the "Dino".

Hi guys! I'm a newbie here. Anyway, just saw a red 360 F1 spider for sale on sgcarmarts at $510,000. Registered in Nov 2002. Any feedback? Also, is $510,000 too steep?

Hi welcome aboard. @ that price, I think it's way too high. A friend just bought a late '03 one owner & 9500km coupe for only S$405K but that's on 65% instead of 80% OMV. A spider's body is probably worth S$30K more.

Thanks Jon! Wow! Ur friend is lucky to get such a new coupe (1 owner!) with such low mileage at that price (albeit at a lower OMV value)! Actually, I would be happy with a coupe. $400 plus k is still ok for a 2nd-hand F car. Will never be able to pay beyond that! Will keep track of the buy and sell columns, and hopefully will get my dream car soon!

Why not give one of the Hong Seh guys a call (Alan, Rudy or whomever you are comfortable with). I remember a silver/blue coupe for a sale a little while back. Even one of the guys in the workshop such as Ben may be a good lead as they would know which were the well looked after cars, and you would need to know them sooner or later anyway if you are getting an F-Car.

Wow Harold, that is one neat kit! Must have cost a bomb too huh. #8 of 15....can't wait to see your room when it's done :)

BTW, I had a look @ that black Speedster. Not that bad actually, a little tired but repaint it back to white, a new interior+top & tidying would make it a nice classic. I'm just trying to justify it's price though, S$100K can net us a lot of good cars these days. The 964C4 Cabriolet parked next to it is asking for S$1k less.

Let's sum it up for S$120K what can we find? For me...
    An '89 911 3.2 Speedster
    '90 964 Cabriolet
    '84 Mondial Cabriolet, done up
    Maybe a 95/6 993C2
    '70s 280SL Pagoda, done up
    2000+ CLK, 3 series Cabriolet?
    Pre-owned current 5 series?
    New Evo 9
    New WRX RA
    New VW Golf GTI
Quite a handful of 964s for under S$100K
    Early 90's R129 300SL for well under S$80K
    F308QV for about S$100K

Jon, 964s should be fetching closer to 60-70k these days (coupe), and 993s can be had for around 140-160k. I heard that my old 993 changed hands for 160k 9 months back.

Must agree with you that 100k buys a lot of cars now. I am still pottering with the idea of which car to go for, the black or my friends red at a huge premium..

Harold, I would offer S$100K for the black speedster. Quite reasonable & I believe the owner would take it, not sure about Hong's comm though. Someone said he saw it had a front damage while it was white last year, maybe that's the reason for a colour change but nothing major I suppose. I would set aside $7K for a bare-metal job, $3.5K for a new leather interior, $500 to recon the wheels, $5-10K to sort out the engine (minor-major job), $2K for clutch/flywheel, $4K to sort out the suspension, $1500 for the 16" tyres & another $1-2K for the aircon. The windscreen needs a change down the road & I don't know how much would a new softtop costs. But $30-40K can net you a topjob & put the 911 back to almost concours condition again. Only you will know if it's worth it. I figure you probably need about $10-20K to make the red one pristine again as well.

Few reasons why it's rare. Nobody wanted it since it leaks big time & factory wouldn't bother. It's a last attempt to revive a dying model before the 964. We like it because of the hairdresser look & big fat ass. Hehee.

Just read that Porsche made 102000 cars last year. Surpassing Jaguar! The good part is their nett profit is double that of Toyota. Figures will go higher once the Panamera is launched next year or two. Not sure if that's good news but I figure that makes Porsche as common as BMWs here soon. There's news of a facelift & new gearing for the 997 next year.

Front end damage Jon? Could you please find out more- no amount of money can reverse the fact that a car is accident damaged, and I would pay the premium for a car with no accident damage. Owner offered 104k already and said no. Mate, the 348TS leaks like hell already, I figure it would be no different.

Try to steer away from any car that has sustained crumple zone damage, no matter how sophisticated a jig is, its never going to be the same...but then again the laser aligned jigs are good...but then its back to the physcological aspects of the owner...u know it got banged it got banged hor!

Don't know bro, it's on another local site. I think he saw the owner driving it with a dented bumper or something like that. You can always get it PPI since he's standing by a price & we'll know how healthy the car is. Stuttgart takes two days, $500 & you need to make an appointment with Andy as well $250. If it's just cosmetic damage, i wouldn't mind. That's the problem we have to live with classics, sometime in it's life a door shell will get dented or a bumper, a cracked light & corrosion. What to do, cannot afford new cars. :(

BTW, I have your 348 window switch. Think it's $100, pass you when we meet. I just received a new lamp for my TR from Canada, very fast service. Ordered on the 6th & received on the 9th, best deal is I saved US$600/40% by comparing internet dealers! The problem is not all dealers stock it & even UK don't have one now (All old Ferrari parts go to UK).

One good situation is the Italian factory has just set up a department restoring classics for owners & issuing archives but best for valuable classics. One poor owner just found out his 365GTB/4 was a stolen car while another had some non matching items in his valuable classic. I think they charge a reasonable Euro500 to certify classic cars & those racebred like GTOs costs Euro5000.

    Dear SF,

Are you sure its late 03 ? sounds more like 01 or even very late 00 car - and 65% still for late 03 ? shouldn't it be 55% ? - but omv is marginal difference - main question is $405k for a late 03 ? -

Good for buyer but frankly, its suprising - last I heard, Autobahn sold a late 02 modena only recently (ie a 65% car) for about $450 k - so $405K is low by comparison

The $510K asked for the late 02 spider is about there give or take a little.
