I know plenty of you out there love it too; it's pretty much the best motoring show ever. I'm still not sure how they get their hands on these amazing cars just to go crazy with them, but I don't care...they just do.

My question; since it's so hard to find on TV in America, how do you watch it?? I've been downloading some off the web, but it's so difficult. I keep hearing that they're coming back to the states but I'm never sure. Let me know what you think.

There have been reports that they are creating an American version of Top Gear, specifically for the US market. However, I'll still watch the UK version-one of the most entertaining shows on TV in my opinion.

I'm worried the American version won't be as good, hopefully it won't dissapoint.

I'm CERTAIN that a US version will not be up to par with the original. How could you compete with Richard Hammond, James May, and most of all Jeremy Clarkson all messing around together?? They're hysterical

That and the US market just isn't as exciting as the rest of the world, not to mention they already have US cars on there every now and then.

I get them off of Usenet. They're pretty good quality, the sound is good and they are crisp on a regular television set.

    By hiring Tiff Needell? :p

I like Top Gear, and Clarkson et al have their moments of amusement, but it's not exactly a super secret formula. Get a few ex race drivers who are personable, good on camera, and like to poke fun at each other. Bingo, better show.

TG has had a while to refine this, but it's still the same general concept.

I used to be able to catch it every week on a branch-off channel of the discovery channel. It seems to have disappeared though...

The December issue of the Top Gear magazine (which gets shipped to the states on Nov. 15...at least at my Barnes and Noble) has a free DVD inside with the guys and their races (Veyron vs. Plane, DB9 vs. Train, 612 Scag vs. boat) I don't know about you...but I'm reserving one at my BN store.

    That would be great

I didn't know they would reserve magazines. I'll ask them this weekend. I didn't even know top gear magazine was sold in the U.S.

The Hamster cruising the "hood" in a Cadillac Escallade -- Hilarious!

Since the Top Gear replays were taken off the DisHistory channels, I've taken to watching "Brainiac" reruns on G4. Richard Hammond is entertaining there, too -- but it just doesn't have the interplay of Hammond/Clarkson/May.

I don't know why they think they have to "Americanize" British shows for the US, these days. (They change the "Brainiac" music track and cut it to a half hour for the US market.) Do they think we'll get annoyed at references to "pounds" and "kilometers"?

Shows like "Monty Python" and "The Avengers" played pretty well without mods, here.

Or is it that they can't make a British show fit in a time slot once you add all the "basic cable" commercials?

It’s Clarkson day on one of our UK satellite channels, so far I’ve watched 4 episodes of top gear, and now I’ve got a marathon run of Clarkson’s Motorworld for a few hours, then an hour of Clarkson's car years, before more top gear. Sundays can be a real trial in the Martin H household. :D

Do they do things like this often or show the weekly Top Gear during its season?

The only UK channel I get is a BBC channel that doesn't have top gear.

Yeah they do it very often, in fact pretty much any day of the week you can find a re-run of top gear from the last few years, they’re never the very latest episodes though. We get re-runs on a few BBC owned channels such as UK Gold, UK TV, UK people etc. Occasionally we get re-runs of Clarkson’s other programmes like motorwold and speed too.
