Hi Jim, just got my Paris show press kit today (ebay),was just wondering how long it will be before a 1/43 version of your car is released ? Have you any insider info ?
Read recently that you have covered app. 155000 miles in your testarossa. Is that correct, did it need engine rebuild,do you still have it ?
Just normal service to engine but gearbox went at 85K and at the end the chassis rusted out so I sold it on. All in it cost about $2.50 per mile over 14 years.
Is there a high-res version of this image? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=412979&stc=1&d=1162325372
Jim that P4/P5 is absolutely amazing. I am so happy for you on being able to have such an awesome one off modern car like that. It's funny. In the latest Road & Track there were a couple of letters to the editor and they just trashed your car saying it was ugly; you were a moron for paying so much for a "kit car", etc. I laughed when I read the letters because I can almost guarantee that these people have no clue what a P3/P4 is. Whether they like the P3/P4 or not is of personal taste, but I laugh that one person called it a "kit car". Oh well that is what makes the world turn. Anyway I really loved the article in the newest "Winding Road" on your car. I think they did a great job on reporting your car. Is it a tough process that you had to go through in order to have such an incredible one off car made? I'm not at that point yet but I figure in about two years I will be at that point and am very interested in having a one off Ferrari made. Cheers Jim. P.S. I think it is also awesome that you put so many miles on a Testarossa. The 512TR/Testarossa is my favorite car of all time. Not just my favorite Ferrari but my favorite car.
Hi That image is copyrighted by Michael Lussos of FOLI. Here's his contact. http://www.ferrarili.com/events_pages/mm_2006.htm The letters were in Car and Driver. The Article in Road and Track just came out and I'm sure they'll have a few letters in a month or so. If anyone is serious about wanting to do what I did get in touch with pininfarina. (Their contact is on their web site). Best
wow way to go dude!!! thats great. would never think a Fcar would make it that high, I know of someone down here that use to drive his enzo EVERY day....but now its parked and goes out here and there. (I think he has over 25K on it , not sure)
So Jim.. P 4/5 is done, 0854 is nearly there, 0846 is complete, the GT40 is getting overhauled, and 002C is where she should be.. what's next? I know the wheels are turning.
I would say now its time to sit back and enjoy them but... collecting is and enjoyment in it self, always on the prowl for the next big thing. I can only imagine what he has up next
ah, yes. i forgot about 412p 0854: http://www.atspeedimages.com/limerock_2005/concours/1967_ferrari_412p_0854/ michael
I'm not saying you shouldn't sit back and enjoy them but for some of us it's all about the journey. -Chris
Seriously beautiful collection, the idiots who wrote the letters in C&D have no clue. I agree the Winding Road article was great, and so are the Photos in R&T with Arnoux behind the wheel. Just wondering if Jim also has a new FORD GT.
Now he's gotta be working on a new era Ford GT, just so we can all enjoy them both in Le Mans together Just teasing you Jim Peter
The fact is if he wants to do it, he will do it. This is living life to its fullest! Kind Regards, -Jon
please forgive me if this is a reposted question jim, but i still haven't read all of the posts as of yet. what was ferrari's take on all of this? were they pleased with the final result? did they help in any way? or were they, gasp, upset at changing one of their cars?
