    I'm driving to California in a few weeks, as a NJ resident; insurance sucks. So does anyone know what their ruling on receiving tickets in other states is. Will any of those points transfer over?

    Yes. http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Violations/penalties_otherStates.htm ...2 pts for a violation.

    Yes, plus two points for an out of state penalty so get a 3 point ticket in ANY other state and when it shows up on your NJ record it is 5. Any points result in a 3 year insurance surcharge as well.
