Chuck Wray's place when he was in Laurel where I got my car serviced. Chuck has taken care of the Marriott cars and I have seen a Kallikow car there as well. I'm sure aficiandos will enjoy the Delahaye, Maserati and ERA, etc; The cars in the background are also very interesting (yes, that is a Bugatti Type 35 Grand Prix car in front of the 250 Pf), but you get so overwhelmed with everything else. My car was parked next to a 250 California Spider once, and there was a real Daytona spider on a lift next to a real 427 AC Cobra on the other lift. Fantasyland.

My old man (I never owned one) had 2 (GTS, 512TR), sold them a few years ago, and we continued getting more bikes instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone, but in international racing's early days, Italian teams were red, British green, French blue, Germans silver and Americans white. Belgian teams typically did yellow. This is why most old racing Bugattis wore blue, all Mercedes silver, and so on.

Those cars belong to Armen, 250 GTO. His dad (and now he, I suppose) control a lot of the real estate in Newport Beach, CA. At one point he even owned an exotic car dealership, but he sold it a while back.

I see a lot of garages with a tile floor. It looks like the ceramic tile that you buy at the local Home Depot but I assumed that it would crack under the weight of a car. Anyone know for sure if this is what people are using or if it's a special type of tile thety are using?

The trick is to use smaller tiles. Smaller tiles mean better weight distribution amongst them, and less chance for cracking.

Big tiles (ie. bigger than 1' X 1') will break easily. And use a thin layer of mortar.

Interested in post # 160. Unless all these cars were sold to the same person, this is the collection of Jim Jaeger, the gentleman that marketed the Escort radar detector or one of the famous radar detectors.. I know it was Cinncinati Microwave. I have photographed a few of the nicer Ferrari's at Mid-Ohio. He owns not a 250 GTO but a 330 GTO with race number 7 and it's not a 330 P car but a 206SP Dino originally campaigned by Maranello Concessionaires. One of the few remaining 206SP still with the coupe body. I have also shot the beautiful 275 NART Spyder. One of the few original. And his 288 GTO>

A while back, I remember reading a thread about a gentleman who has a CRAZY!! collection of cars. If I am not mistaken, he has them all stored in a garage/warehouse out in some field somewhere in the US. I think I recall someone mentioning that he was the inventor of the electronic bar codes. Not Sure. If anyone has any info or links to his collection,it would be greatly appreciated.

I would assume that the footprint of one car tire is greater than 25 sq. in, so that is a conservative number. Then four tires provide 100 sq. in. of footprint. Even if a car weighed 4000 lbs., that is 40 lbs. per square inch of pressure on the tile. A 200 lb. man sitting in a chair with four legs, each 1 sq. in. in contact area, exerts 50 lb. per square inch on the floor. So there is no trick to parking a car on a tile floor without cracking the tile, even if it's the soft Mexican tile that’s $1/sf at Home Depot. Another poster mentioned there is a risk with larger tile. That's because larger tile is more difficult to lay without leaving a void in the mortar under the tile. A little extra care by the tile setter will ensure this doesn't happen.
