Pondering the sell of my F355 Spider 1998
    Scuderia shields
    Challenge Grill
    New Kevlar clutch
    Hyper Flow Cats
    Tubi Exhaust
    30k service in '06
    Grigio titanium
    New P-Zero(s)
    European lens

Now the question is - I'm all over the place as to replacement. Top of the list is:
Diablo 6.0 (01) fantastic epitomy of the legacy, prices moving up

Galllardo (04) bang for the buck

Ferrari 355 Berlinetta (95) & Ferrari 512tr (92) why buy one when you can have two

    Why are you selling?
Just bored, don't want a convertible, better track performance with a coupe, etc. etc.

If you decide the future use of your new car, you can make a better decision....

BTW, your car is very nice!!!!

Yes selling for the ability to track, want something where I can turn off the passenger side air-bag, not bored but like variety, rarely drop the top, feel better with structure around me....but love many different things about the cars list.

    ...and thanks for the kudos.

Man don't sell that beautiful car. I remember when you bought it and how proud you were with the clever photos.

If you just want to turn the air bags off and have fun with the car, call Bob Brown at www.airbagonoff.com. He did my 360, and I am very comfortable with the air bags being off.

I was going to do the same to my CL500 and my 530i, but I have decided to sell both of those and to replace them.

Don't sell. Selling will only give you that lonely feeling you had when you failed to commit to that beautiful girl in your last year of college! Remember that?

Why are you selling out of curiosity? Done with them for now or getting a 360? :)

Gershwin - 95 F355 and 92 512TR would be my choice out of your list, it's nice to have options in your life.

lol....I thought about putting a disclaimer that stated "this is not an advertisement."

Fact is, I submitted a thread that stated: I'm contemplating selingl and have merely asked for opinions on a new purchase/replacement. Flirting w/ policy? Perhaps, however, without calling into question the "policy" of FCHAT I believe owners/subscribers should be able to post like-kind threads without the content of the message being an outright advertisement.
I often see other FCHAT owner's cars that I find appealing and would find that information of value. To know such contemplation as a way to possibly consider purchasing said car, perhaps not the ideal car but an example that has been responsibly maintained, sorted and documented appropriately. For me I'd consider a car that may not meet all my criteria but has an owner with history that is committed to the car.
So, is it an advertisement, no it's a teaser....but I'm not the administrator and I hope they will not pull the thread.

GCalo - your right, I've read many threads that state that others were sad once they parted with their F355. I suppose it is the "grass is greener" quagmire and that selling really doesn't produce greener pastures. I will however follow up on the "bag-off" guy. I very much would like to have my son ride with me but I understood the airbag could not be turned off without some Federal compliance paperwork that was difficult to obtain. I will look into asap though.

    Thanks

4 kids, small house. 355 + Mondial t = down on new house.

Kinda sucks to have to sell the toys, but the family comes first - by a long way.

I have that paperwork and can send you a copy. It means nothing! I have not sent mine in yet, because I was too busy!

Bob can disable any air bags. There is a key switch so you can turn them on if you wish.

    Great system.

    Don't sell that beauty.

In a 2 seat car, it is legal for a child to ride in the passenger seat, even with the airbags on. Just as it is legal to have a kid in the front seat of any car, IF all other seats are occupied by children also (ie can't have adults in the back and a kid up front).

The only issue is safety, and then the real issue there is that in an accident the airbag has been known to suffocate small children unable to clear it from their face. I take my kids in the 355 (one at a time!) for short trips or as a treat.

Agree though that being able to disable it would be better....

The airbag inflates and delfates in less than a second - never once have I seen a confirmed report of suffocation due to an airbag.. I am in the field..

Titanium - no I'm sorry its not. Why do you want the F1 or should I say she....for the wife, right? My wife couldn't figure it out (F1 during test drive) and loves - loves the gated shifter. Frankly, it is her favorite part of the car. When she speaks of it to others, she always says, "...and I love the little chink-chink sound it makes when switching gears."

GCalo - you've brought new vigor to my thought process....and thanks for the info on the air-bag switch. You're right seems fairly simple. What did it cost you to have activated?

Interesting information on the site pertaining to injuries/deaths related to air-bags. For me it is not an issue of the legality as much as a story I heard some months ago that a child was killed in a parking lot when a vehicle hit a light pole, the air-bag deployed and killed the child.

You know when I was a child, I was in my folks car, turned it over it went into gear, it hit the corner of the garage. No problem, car got fixed, I got whipped. However by todays standards a simple mishap as that in any vehicle could cause a child to loose their life.

Cool! I read that in the LATimes at some stage. But this is reassuring - I really couldn't see it happening anyway, but didn't want to try and find out.

Why not keep this car and just buy the Ferrari 512tr (92)? This way you have what you are looking for and still can drop the top for a country drive...

    Problem solved! :D

Bob Brown comes to you. He charges $600.00 for the first one and $400.00 for the second. The best $1,000.00 I have spent, and I'll do it to all my cars.

BTW, air bags do not suffocate children. It breaks their necks like twigs!

Ask Bob Brown about the severe injuries from air bags to his wife in a 25 mph crash!

You can have air bags. I don't want them.

And please no bleeding heart comments about how critical they are to safety!
