You should have come and saw ol pappy. I have a pair of rusty old pliers that could have done the job. And some Whisky to sooth the pain too!!

 

You used anesthesia and/or painkillers? Sissy.

 

Only 1. The sex change operation I had last year. I went from being a woman to a man.

 

Dentist pulled my wisdom teeth without anesthesia. He wanted to give me some but I said, "Doc, I'm tough, go for it." I didn't flinch once during the whole procedure. He was impressed and wondered what it would take for me to cry out in pain. I said, "Doc, that has only happened twice in my life. The first time was when I was staking down bear traps. I needed to take a dump and forgot where I'd put all the traps. Needless to say I squatted down on one and it clamped shut on a rather sensitive part of my nether regions. That was the first time I cried out in pain." The dentist asked, "When was the second time?" I said, "When I reached the end of the chain."

 

I had local anesthetic for my procedure. Didn't hurt during or anytime after. Didn't get pain killers. I had those prescribed after my appendectomy, but didn't use them. I still remember the wisdom removal. I couldn't feel when the tooth was out, but realized it happened slightly before seeing the tooth was about to come out of my mouth when warm blood was all over my tounge.

 

I got knocked out when I had my wisdom teeth cut out. The feeling of total relaxation right before the anesthesia knocks you out is great. My mouth swelled a lot, but I never had any pain after the surgery.

 

ive have 12 teeth pulled i think, Five in one sitting. I HATE IT! the sound is the worst part. When I had the five pulled the last three were permanant and the last one broke in half when he was pulling it. That was one of the worst things I have ever heard. I got to keep my wisdom teeth though because of it. The only downside is that ecause of all the novicane I got when they were pulling the teeth, I dont respond to it for for more then a short while. I found this out when i slammed a window shut on one of my fingers breaking the nail in half. It wouldnt stop bleeding so I went to the E.R. and the doctor thought it would be a good idea to stitch it back into one peice. I could feel the thread going through my skin. Think about pushing a fish hook through you finger nail. I've had stitches w/o novicane in my face/head before beacuse of hockey, but this was a whole different kind of ouch.

 

I had two wisdom teeth pulled once. A few shots of novocaine, the most heinous-looking set of pliers I'd ever seen and a wonderful bottle of codeine-laden pain killers afterwards. I ate nothing but ice cream for two days and my jaw bone was a little sore from the dentist wriggling those damn pliers in my mouth. But all in all, it was a piece of cake.

The first tooth came out without a problem. But when he gripped the second tooth in its first extraction attempt, the whole tooth shattered in the vice grip of the pliers. It was a real pain in the ass for him. I was just happy to get the pain killers afterwards.

When a tooth is pulled, this weird, filmy jelly forms over the hole in your gum where the tooth once was. It's a very foreign feeling in your mouth and takes a while to get used to. Since I can't help myself, I poked at this film with my tongue all day. I bled a lot. I miss the pain killers.

Had mine taken out and it was easy. I was dredding it because I had one that was bad. The rest of the day I slept but I didnt even use all the pain killers.

Yeah, that one's a lot less painful than the other way.

 

I don't remember mine coming out but I do remember a few tough one that I pulled.

 

I need to have mine taken out. I've been putting it off for a few years now. The dentist said they are on the bone and will have to be chiseled out. I don't see the harm in having them but I've been told I could get infections.

 

Just pray you dont get "Dry socket syndrome"! I had all 4 taken out at once. Went on a trip the same day. Could not believe how little swelling and pain i had. Few days later i wake up with the most intense pain...

 

I'm not getting mine pulled. You guys think "Yeah, right, you just wait, young man..." but I'm dead serious. My dad didn't get his pulled either.

I've been made fun of for having small teeth, but it's gonna bite all my friends in the ass in about 2 years when they get theirs pulled... Lucky for me my small teeth made my mouth big enough to keep all my teeth just fine!

 

If one is poking part way thru you can. Especially if it's one on the bottem. Believe it or not it can actually kill you and it doesn't take long to do it once it gets started good in just the right place. That is unlikely to happen of course with access to medical care and antibiotics (civilization) but 100 years ago and in a third world country today it is something you really don't want. The other "bad" tooth that can get you is an infected cuspid. Those put a lot of people in an early grave back in the day also.

I am not kidding.

 

Funny how this thread popped up..I've been having some pain from one of my upper wisdom teeth but it comes then disappears for a long while. I guess I'm just "teething". Don't know if they'll have to come out but oddly enough, my g/f just got hers out this week. Small world we live in.

I got mine out when I was 16. They wouldn't let me out of the hospital until I could eat a popsicle. I put the popsicle in my mouth, but it all fell back out. They let me out anway. A few days later I fainted in gym class because I still couldn't eat. I hope you like Carnation Instant Breakfast. Good luck!

 

Mine are starting to poke through. The thought of pliers is making me cringe. I have a high tolerance for pain and can't feel the right side of my mouth, but it still irks me. I'm 23.

They aren't poking through. Actually I think they are sideways.
