now explain the Redex rallies to him I'm sure they showed a lot of the London-Sydney race on TV , or at least the highlights each night on telly bet these young boys don't realise that Pugs were the cars to have in these rallies way back then
2 books you should read Pap, "World Of Motor Sport" and "A Bootful of Right Arms" by Evan Green. You'll get them from your local library (eventually) or most motoring bookshops in major cities. Hugely entertaining and many familiar names from the heyday of Australian motor sport. Evan's son now lives in the UK and has edited CAR magazine amongst others.
I estimate at LEAST 15 in Oz. There are 2 LM's and one GTE before you even start thinking about the road cars. In 5 seconds I thought of 9 road cars on top of the 3 race cars............ bound to be quite a few more if I put my mind to it.
plus more no one even knows about! same with enzos...f50s...you name it! it's anybody's guess. how many 355ch? number's increasing all the time, but production isn't!
Yeah, he said he did a 2.20. Best I can see is a 2.17, then loads of 2.21 and 2.22 etc... It's the cars first time out Admiral, other than a recent PI shakedown... where it did 1.39 with passenger!...(on treaded R spec tyres) Now THATS a mofo Evo..
Huh, a 1 minute 39 lap with passenger only on R tyres..........pardon my scepticism. What has it got a gazzilion horsepower?
apparently, yes...only 7 seconds slower than your N-GT could go on slicks Allan says the thing is incredible... Built in Tassie by Les Waldken Racing.... I'll find out tomorrow night when I go to familiarise myself with it for the weekend.
It was a great day today on the road. I might have taken some pics, but I can't remember and the camera is in the car in the Paddock before you ask. There's a lot of hanging around but when the special stage starts, it is huge fun using all the road and trying to catch the car in front without overdoing it. The M5 is up for it - plenty of power, quick steering and great brakes. We only caught an old Jag and a 356 with smoke pouring out of it, but we are trying. Edit: We did have one problem - the tyre pressure warning light came on to show a puncture, but the tyres are fine. We couldn't get it to turn off but we are hoping the car just needs a decent rest overnight to fix the sensor. Too much technology!
excellent news for Craig heard someone else in a 550 had a fire under the dash, and kept driving !! Goobs says he is having a ball and the 360c is the best car he has driven , and even turned the traction control off and it was even better.
It had a fire about 50m after the finish of the last stage (Corkscrew) an older 911 also had a small fire today
oh dear... I wonder what happened... great to get a pic of it though.... but maybe delete it out of sensitivity to owner?
haven't spoken to him today, but yesterday he did his first lap of prologue with TC on, got annoyed with it bogging too much and switched it off on the 2nd lap. game lad, as of yesterday he had maybe 5 miles of 'spirited' driving clocked up in it....
