Yeah those 3 parro guys in the corner were funny as! now the guys who crashed that 944 are the road and track dyno tune blokes, met them at the prologue nice bunch! If you get to see that v8 escort take off, RECORD IT! It goes like stink and left those tire marks up the road! Absolutely nuts!
got a clip of goober at the Prologue http://www.lulu.tv/?p=4406 and the Pantera leaving the camera car for dead & everyonne laughing at it http://www.lulu.tv/?p=4407
The sound of the Koala car (as dubbed by a six year old this evening) is just obscene when it is working! OK. more text stuff on today's stages, too late/lazy for pics, and I've just fixed the laundry tap which pegged out this morning after getting home from an enjoyable day at 11pm. First stage of the day, Coromandel, was cancelled. A Porsche hit an embankment, and a HK Monaro rolled on the armco at the end of the stage. Fortunately at last hearing, all occupants were apparently OK, if a bit bruised and beaten. A long delay on the next stage of Wickhams Hill delayed the procession by at least two hours. Wickhams has a number of hairpins and curves but is nice and open. The 360C again performed faultlessly. Willunga Hill is described as a "simple hillclimb" but it took its toll on the GT Falcon camera car which was left in the gutter. The long transport to Yankalilla for morning tea, arriving at 1pm two hours late, must have been a disappointment to the locals, all of whom seem to show great support of the event by lining the roads enroute. Myponga seemed another relatively simple stage, as long as you stayed out of the concrete gutter on the side of the road, very fast with open curves. The next stage of Hindmarsh Falls was considered to be the nastiest stage based on my recce. Narrow rough roads, a blind crest leading into a downhill RH turn, and through to a flodway with a double bump. However Goober and the 360 breezed through with no grounding and care taken through the floodway. The sister 360C decided to throw a few throttle realted tantys through the day, dropping into limp home mode, components swapped, and then coming good again. The final Strathalbyn and Flaxley stages were again nice and open with a few interesting curves and other hazards. Yep, I know this stuff is all one sided me me me stuff, I'm just too slack to report on the other wonderful Ferrari's in the event, as in the other previously posted pics by other people, the lovely blue BB, the F40, a yellow 308GTB etc etc, it is now too late, must go to bed............
Here's a couple of pics from yesterday and the street party last night... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mark, looks like a lot of fun there. How's the M5 faring? BTW, when and where is the next public display of the cars? Is it Hutt St on Sunday?
Thaks for the write-up Simon and the pics Mark. Goober's new mistress needs better dress sense.....love the way the kid is watching with amazement. Mark, how did you go with the tyre error message thing? Did it go away by itself or did you do a reset?
yeah that pantera sounds the balls irl! i was talking to the bloke who did some of the resto work on it! he said it was a basket of rust before he patched it all up with new metal! panteras are badass
Aemel, the M5 is going very well. It can't compete with the racing Ferraris and we were rounded up on a long downhill stage today by a very quick Cayman, but I've never driven so hard using public roads - and it is all legal! Yes, Hutt St on Sunday is the next public display - unless you want to see them driven in anger in which case you should head to Paris Creek tomorrow. This is the longest stage of the event and promises to be something special.
Steve, we did a reset and all is well. I'm not going to get as much out of this set of tyres as the last set though! It is a great event. I don't know if I would use the Lambo for it - it is pretty tough on the car the way I'm doing it, giving it full throttle everywhere and having the tyres screaming for mercy in the tight stuff. I've learned more about the M5 and what it can do in the past 3 days than I have in the last year.
there is a blue BB which seems to be following the contours of the roads here quite nicely. same time. different angle. notice the person in red on the left side of this shot.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was having breakfast at The Store on Melb St this morning and was treated with a pleasant surprise...a stream of Classic Adelaide cars passing by! It was a fantastic way to have breakfast...Sausages with Scramble Eggs on Toasts and dozens of exotics and classics passing right in front of you. Mark, Jit and I were a bit dissapointed you didn't give the throttle a bit of a push from the lights. Nevertheless, your car looked very fine So you got done by a Cayman eh? Maybe I should have opted for the Cayman S instead of the 540i, but where do I put the 2 kids...damn... Waz, I think I saw your car too, were you 2 groups ahead of Mark? Goober...thank you thank you thank you!! You must have given it some gas pass the lights...the sound from your 360C was nothing short of awesome... That Koala Mobile was hard to miss
The spectator guide doesn't list Paris Creek as a Spectator section. Any place on that route that's good for spectating or will they close of that road entirely? Otherwise, I might spectate on the Montacute run which is nice and early (8.20am) and nearby Anyone else spectating? If so, where? Good luck, Gents!
