hello fc, last night i went to my friends race shop and drove his new project car evo9 rs. this evo is mostly stock except new suspension and ao48 on all corners. it has ecu flash and intake and exhaust system and it made 400awhp(all wheel drive). i was surprised how good these cars are and was wondering if anyone here drove these cars on track before. how are these cars compare to other sports cars. thanks
These cars can definately keep up with some of the bst at the track. They handle like you wouldn't believe. The car was designed more for handling than going straight to begin with, and its a very well balanced, composed car that is easy to drive fast.
Yes, the RS is a very nice car. Evos can keep up with 90% of supercars both on the road and on the track. One caveat though, the RS is the version devoid of some of the electronic gizmos that makes the other versions (GSR and MR) almost idiot-proof in handling. Because of that, you need to be a more competent driver in finding the limit of the RS. That having been said, the RS still has a very balanced chassis, and is a fantastic handling car nevertheless.
The rs is fine but the GSR is a far better EVO. There is no chance the car makes 400Whp with just those three mods.
I don't know what country you live in, but since you mentioned the GSR, I take it that its not America, as we dont have the GSR. In America none of the cars have the electronic gizmos, so the RS has all the same componets as the regular EVo, and the MR. It is simple a stripped version that weighs less, looks more mature, and costs less. If it will be a daily driver, I'd highly suggest the Urban Jungle package that gets you a radio and I believe power windows and locks back. Edit, Im reading that the GSR does exist in the US???? Ive never heard of the GSR before..
I live in Singapore. We get lots of JDM cars here. The GSR is the version with Super AYC, ACD and ABS. The RS version lacks the Super AYC and the ABS (but retains the ACD). The GSR has a 6MT while the RS comes with a 5MT. Besides this, there are other differences in the fittings and the weight.
