Someone who had access to the numbers recently indicated there were 8 brand new CGT models left at USA Porsche dealers. Some of the late cars listed for over $500,000 with special colors like Ferrari Fly Yellow and options like wheels painted the exterior color. What do they want for the new CGT (1370) languishing at the dealer in Montreal? No doubt they keep a large jar by the front door for 'customer convenience'...

There is, but it's not for sale. It was a Canadian-delivered car (South Centre I believe).

We'll just say that they want too much to consider it before a US car.

There is a guy who owns a Carrera GT in Silver. He lives like 2mins from my house. Ive seen him driving around a lot. He is also friends with someone in my neighborhood and the car has driven up and down my street a few times.

I think it was Tan. Next time I see it, I will try to get pics. I dont think he has had it out in the past few weeks though. I never really said that I spotted it in the spotters thread, cause I see it so often.

The price of ANY new Porsche in Canada is way beyond what the current exchange rate and 6% duty should reasonably reflect when comparing USA and Canada prices. They really see you coming...

Has anyone actually imported a used, USA SPEC Enzo, or European Spec Enzo to Canada? Are they RIV approved? If so, what revisions were made, if any?

The information is valuable, but please don't say 'this has been discussed plenty of times, blah, blah.', and refer me to RIV, or tell stories about a friend of a friend.

Seriously, if you've done it, or you are 100% certain without any doubt of how to do it, please post in a professional manner. It would be very much appreciated....otherwise save your advice for others.

    Thank you all.

As to what James said, try PM-ing "2nastie". He has a US-spec Enzo that he imported from California. Bonus points for DRIVING the car back!

Euro spec cars under 15 years of age cannot be DIRECTLY imported into Canada legally. Euro spec cars under 15 years old, even if INDIRECTLY imported in the US and fully converted to US EPA/DOT requirements , cannot legally be imported into Canada. Only US cars that are originally US spec can be imported into Canada legally. Now if someone has forged documents to get a euro grey market car accepted in the Cdn system, that's their business.

Huge costs to make it all legal? lol, I'm sure if you've got the moolah for an Enzo that isn't even an issue. You've got that much money lying in your ashtray.

if i remember correctly it's roughly $100,000 to do a F40, no idea about an ENZO but if someone is financing or leasing it matters.
People that can afford to buy, lease or finance a ENZO can do so because they are smart with their money, and the costs of converting are something i'm sure they would consider.

Me thinks you're wrong James. I worked with a Cdn working out of Toronto who specialized in finding BMW M5s (euro spec) in Germany, bringing them into the US, having the EPA/DOT fedralization done, then selling them to residents in the US. I was a resident in the US at the time and was about to purchase one from this Cdn importer when we found it could not be brought legally into Canada. My next try -- and this should interest you -- was to buy the Cdn importers euro M5 that he had in Toronot only as long as he had a dealer plate on it for restricted use. We planned to bring it down to the US for the EPA/DOT conversion -- because there is NO official or recognized conversion company in Canada -- and then see if we could bring it back into Canada under his name, with me buying it then. Both of us were startled to find there was NO way and he had been working in the business for 10 years. So if you disagree, please cite a specific example of a euro spec car that is less than 15 years old that has been legally imported into Canada.

Not sure if the same issues applied, but John G's 348 is euro-spec, and if I recall correctly it's a 91 but was brought in when it was < 15 yrs old?

Just a quik thought. I thought I read on f-chat that Enzo's are cosnidered "World Cars" which means that they are the same spec everywhere. Is this true? Not sure if it will help.

a client of mine bought a BMW M1 brand new from a dealer in belgium which he imported here and had a BMW dealer in montreal do the conversion.
Also when i was at autoforum we had a 2001 360 spider from Dubai that we had converted over.
also NO euro car can enter the states unless it's TWENTY FIVE years or older, unless the proper modifications are done.

The October 2006 list shows US Enzo's as admissable. There are no special notes that state requirements for modifications either. This is a bit different from the version at the beginning of the year. 550's are now off the list, early 360's don't require mods, and enzo's show as admissable.

Also when I was at Autoforum we had imported a 2001 Ferrari 360 Spider from Dubai on behalf of a client of mine which we had converted to meet canadian EPA/DOT specs.
