Hello Steve. I dont think Ferrari ever intended to have a tow ball for their sports cars. :p So no, they dont make them mate. You will have get one made and make sure it is done right too. Engineered ect.....
Alot of my work mates tease me, saying I should get one made for my 348 also to take the rubbish to the dump in a trailer behind the 348. :p:p
Would look funny a Ferrari towing a trailer. :D

I'm sure it can be done and would be no problem with the car...it's just the way it looks. I've thought about a trailer on my 308 to bring race tires to the race. I've sketched it out, but have not had time to actualy do it.

I suppose you could tow a tiny trailer w a few tools, jack & 4 race slicks but thats about it

TRs are already so tail happy that I wouldnt want to drive it

& if you want to stay alive dont go over 70 mph w a trailer on the back

Get yourself a Porsche Cayenne to do towing. A Ferrari is meant to be a drivers car, not a tow truck.

Certainly there is enough power, but I would be concerned the cooling system would not have the capacity to handle the extra load.

I knew an old airline pilot, he flew just about everything ever built up through the L1011. He had this very pretty series 1 Jag XKE that had a Ford V-8 in it. He built frame brackets that clamped around the frame members to carry the Ford motor. He custom made everything to install the motor in the car so that when he wanted to put the car back right, it would all simply unbolt. He had the original motor in the garage at home and fully planned to restore it back correctly, he just wanted to drive the car while he restored the engine.

The Ferrari should be no more difficult. Build special brackets to encompass the frame tubes, and carry the hitch off the brackets. Then when you no longer need it, it can be removed without any damage to the car.

What can it pull? First off it depends how you drive pulling a trailer. Loaded correctly, a good stable trailer can track so well you never know they are there. But there is a trade off between tounge wieght, center of gravity, and stability. Tandem axle trailers track better, but are much heavier. And with a Ferrari, tounge wieght wouldnt want to get to high, but I would have no problem seeing them handle 100 pounds on the hitch ball. If the trailer was loaded 60/40 to the front, over its axle, depending on the tounge length, 1500 pounds gross wieght would not be unreasonable. Just keep the mass of wieght as low as possible.

The cars have more than enough power to yank a small trailer around, especially if you drive carefully and reasonable. The cars brakes are more than adequate to stop the car with a light trailer, again, driving carefully. The only issue would be the rear suspensions load carying ability. Again, this is the area where tounge wieght would be the greatest factor. When wieght is placed behind the rear axle, there is a fulcrum effect that takes an equal amount from forward and adds it to the wieght the rear axle carries. So 100 pounds of tounge wieght easy can place 200 pounds on the rear axle, while taking perhaps 100 pounds off the front axle. This is were careful loading and driving will be of the greatest concern.

Myself, I like the idea of seeing people get the greatest use and efficiency out of cars like this. Yes, its a sports car, and a special one at that. But its still a car, and using it to as full potential as possible without harming it, I think should be encouraged. Probably no one would ever key a Ferrari that was parked with a trailer hooked to it.

there was a picture in the back of a road and track a few years ago that showed a TR with a horse trailer. i think the car was in ohio.

I doubt that the extra strain in the engine would be the problem, rather it would be the rear suspensions inability to deal with the extra weight. the new SRT-10 ram 2-door (a pickup!!) has no towing capacity because of its stiff suspension.

If you keep the weight low, maybe limit to tires, tools ect. this could easily be done. it would look a little silly, though. the picture of the Enzo is crazy!!

Hehe :D not really... no doubt they're great cars... but it's no secret that I'm more a Ferrari guy :)

    Everything ok Stefaan? :)
Good luck with the towing issue, I think it can be done... but... it'll also look a bit weird?

Have you noticed that the F355 pic with the tires in this thread was made in Belgium :)

BTW, how's the F355 Spider? Fixed? Driven? Sold?

    Yeah,the PAP is everywhere....!!
I was born not so far(in a Ferrari @ least) from there, and some of my family lives around there...The 355 is been sold, and I have not informed about it lately..I'm quite sure the car is fixed by now...
    Look weird? Hmmm,no...
Shouldn't it be fun to "school" a so called high-performance car,and pass it in a TR....with a trailer behind it!!!!! LOL
    C Ya around!!!

    Hey Bert!!!!
That's is JUST what I was thinkin' about...
Look @ that TR behind...I remember that publicity about it,15 years or so, ago...With that old, happy farmer who's ready to go in the cabin of a TR(tan) with his dirty clothes and those cow-s.h.i.t covered boots....with a trailer on it,and he was in his fields doin' somethin'....Oh jeez, when I sow that pub the first time,I almost had to puke!!! Now,when I'm grow-up(hmmm,am I really?),it looks like fun...

I have a question for those of you out there that would use a TR or ANY KIND of a Ferrari to tow a trailer of any type. Would you be kind enough to post the last numbers of those vin #s? That way I could avoid buying any of them.

Does this harm a car,if it's done correctly?
