1.5 million auto accidents last year involving deer nationally. 150 people killed in auto accidents involving deer. Thousands more injured. Billions of dollars in property damage caused by deer, from auto accidents to destruction of property around homes, etc. There are more deer in most parts of the country than there were before the Pilgrams landed. Why? Easy answer -- we've killed off all the natural preditors that kept the populations in control, and we don't hunt them and eat them anymore.

There is only one preditor left that controls deer population -- the CAR. Until folks have the guts to stand up to the Bambi huggers and allow reasonable levels of hunting to cull the herds, especially in urban and suburban areas, the situation will only get worse.

Save a car -- Eat venison! (p.s. The picture is what a deer did to my old Jaguar XKE a few years ago, less than a mile from home.)

Sure! what used to be large eyed bambi's are now considered long legged rodents. Way too many and more than at the turn of the centry (1900).

We need fewer deer not more! NJ is lousy with them. All they do is poop and eat our garden. You have to put up an expensive deer fence if you want to do any kind of gardening whatsoever. I love nature and animals, but deer are just a nuissance. A nuissance best served with a tasty cream sauce.

ouch, that sucks for the jaguar. Its probably the first time a jaguar has lost to a deer:) Sorry about the car, it looks like a beautiful car and I loved the styling of the old Jags.

Deer drove my mother nuts in Texas (Austin)... She had this beautiful garden planted and they kept eating it... My parents went to extreme expense building fences and walls to keep them out. I proposed they just let me stand on our deck with a 30-06 rifle and just shoot them as they came. Figured we could have venison for a while. But they wouldn't let me... Something about city ordinances against firing a rifle inside the city, the chance of hurting other people, blah, blah blah... (I mean, those are just details, right?) :D

If the head is cut off and missing, but the body is there, chances are it was a buck, and someone decided to take a trophy.

As for the Jag, $18K worth of damage. The bonnet alone (that whole front of the car is a one-piece unit) cost over $8K to replace, not to mention all the crushed components underneath (that crease in the middle where the body hit is the top of the radiator, pushed it, the engine and the frame substructure back). But the car was repaired and is still happily plying the byways of NJ. I sold it a few years ago when I bought the first Ferrari, but still have a '70 XKE in the garage, sitting next to the 308 now (mandatory Ferrari content... LOL).

Deer -- Can't live with'em, can't kill them (thanks to tree-hugging Bambi lovers). But, I just figured out the solution... America is getting too fat, right? Deer-meat is the answer to our problem. Low in fat and calories, high in protein. Nutritious and tasty! More plentiful than buffalo. We need to pass a law requiring all hamburgers in fast food joints to be made of DEER MEAT! Solve two problems with one solution!!! Geez, I'm just too damn smart. Why didn't I think of that before?

i almost hit a pair of deer last weekend up in haworth. i was cruising about 35-40, (speed limit), around the golfcourse and they came running out onto the street in unison. they saw the headlights, thankfully, and stopped dead in their tracks. i feel if it were not for my xenons it would have been a mess.

you think deer are bad? i have seen 4 foxes in my regional area, as of late, and they are quite fast. i think they may become a hassle in upcoming years.
