My rent went up by $75 bucks. No biggie really. My friend's went up 200! From 1400 to 1600. BTW, available spaces for rent in Calgary are on the rise. I see more and more for rent signs now. During the summer it was damn near impossible to find anything. RMK and I found our place by pure luck!
Bastards. It's ok though, we have Mila Kunis from That 70's Show filming a movie outside our building today. Sheldon saw her earlier but forgot to invite her and her girlfriends over for dinner at the crib tonight.... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man, I've always loved her. But man how the hell can you forget to invite her over? You know she does the voice of Meg on Family Guy? LOL Image Unavailable, Please Login
Haha, well I don't know about 3, but 1 is correct and regarding 2 - there isn't much you don't know about Lambos! I wouldn't dare to question your Lamborghini knowledge. Thanks for passing on the calendar. dx49 if you want to PM me your mailing address, I will send the calendar to you, along with a barely used bedsheet from Vasco's guest house.
Thanks for the link, kind sir. Interesting stuff, for sure. Smells like a market correction is just around the bend...
The info in the link is old... Q4 '05 was when Cowtown passed the T-Dot in AAA pricing... Correction is on the way... lots of space coming online in the next 18 mos...
I was walking down 17th today and saw what looked like a movie set but the people I was with were in a hurry and didn't want to check it out...too bad!
It was me. And some people wanting autographs. No biggie. I love to oblige the fans. Incidentally, high-def DVD coming in 2 weeks!
Yeah, it was definitely cool to see all that goes into making a movie. They had a massive boom over 17th and some heavy duty lights on the sidewalk. The movie looks interesting, it's called Straight Edge. http://www.calgarysun.com/cgi-bin/publish.cgi?p=162629 Here's a pic of her somewhere downtown. She's so damn cute. You should have been down my street about a week ago. They burned down the corner store ("burned"... it's movie gimmickry) for "Blue Smoke". Amongst other things...
Are you invested in oil & gas? Yes? That explains a lot... I hate it. I work at Safeway and had to go outside a lot. You ever tried to push 9 carts in -20????
Natural resources and mining right now. Oil and Gas is still kinda iffy, I'll wait for Crude and Natural Gas to base first. Pushing 9 carts in -20 would not be fun. Better then pushing your belongings around in one cart in -20 though...
True that... I heard from a co-worker that last night a homeless guy died along 10th Ave. in the cold.
That's so wrong. Should NOT happen in this country. I hear of a few of those unfortunate cases every year. V..
The Drop-In Center (the main homeless organization in Calgary) has been trying to alert city council about the homeless problem for the last while now. For the last few nights they have opened up the Calgary Stampede Grandstand for a temporary shelter till they can get the old brick store converted to a shelter, but alot of people are opposed to that. I would rather, oil/gas prices not go up. I enjoy looking at the sign and seeing 80 cents a liter.
Most of those homeless people are mentally ill. They require medication, education, and therapy. Generally speaking, they don't require shelter, they require psychological assessment. Giving them a place to sleep, while a short term solution, does nothing long term to get them off the streets. In fact, it probably accomplishes the converse, and provides affirmation that our systems will support them when they cannot do so themselves. If you continue to feed homeless people and provide shelter, they will continue to come for handouts and freebies. Sadly, it's self-propogating.
I see your point. But surly there is something that can be done. Especially on those extreme cold days. Also, many homeless appear to be rebelious and will not stay at a shelter. Tough situation I guess. Sad nonetheless.
Hey folks sorry to change the subject on you, a good topic of discussion at hand. I'll be in Calgary from Dec 12-Jan 7, wondering if there is anything going on or anyone want to meet up. Drop me a line. Chris
