Great picture. That would be a 330P, right?

More evidence! Gianni Rogliatti's book "Ferrari - Ecurie Garage Francorchamps" has a picture of the same car with this caption:
"No. 5843, just bought by the Ecurie Francorchamps, practicing for the Le Mans 24 Hour race in 1964."
Photo is credited to Jean-Jacques Frei.

330P, 0818, Le Mans 64 with Graham Hill and Jo Bonnier. Came in second that year.

How many of the early SWB's came w/o cooling vents in the wings? Was 1539GT the only one? Thanks.

Can you or someone identify the number 12 car from your shots on the first page of the thread?

Great photos all, such fun to see history like this.

Could this be 1742gt with Reed and Connell at Sebring in 1960?

It could be 1960 but the other photos in the sleeve were from 1959. Connell drove a 250 SWB at LeMans that did not have fender vents.

Sometime ago I made an inquiry in another thread about the color of 0042M at Le Mans in 1951. The instructions for the Tameo 1/43rd model kit of the car said to paint it yellow which I did. Later I read somewhere that the car was actually blue. The majority opinion was that although it was yellow in 1950 it was blue in 1951.

I found these two photos in this forum:

    http://www.forum-auto.com/sport-auto/section3/sujet351586-350.htm

I guess the eveidence is conclusive. It was an expensive lesson, but I am very glad to have learned the truth.

Miss Simon always spoke of his Berlinetta Le Mans (0042M) as Blue...

I am reasonably sure that this very car is under restoration at Paul Russell & Co. as we speak. They are hoping to have the car ready for the upcoming Cavallino Classic. Paul has done some very impressive research on the car. You might check their website for info on how to contact them.

In one of the more recent Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car features an article about Paul Russell & Co., and one of the pictures shows a denuded Touring berlinetta superleggera body/frame-network in the background (holy run-on sentences, batman!).

Not as expensive that someone did with 0596CM: the original car was repainted in yellow by someone's faulty advise - and yes, it looks terrible too!!!

    Hi David,

Not this car, a similar, but more historically important car, s/n 0026M
