And he did it in 6th? At top rpm, didn't that speed up the dyno excessively? If I recall correctly, they usually dyno cars in 3rd, perhaps even 2nd gear depending on final gear ratio, maybe even 4th. But 6th? Hmmm... Cheers, Alex
The tradition is to run the car in whatever gear is 1:1. On the F355, none of the gears is 1:1. Fifth is closest at 1.034:1. I don't know why they ran it in 6th, and I didn't count the shifts anyway. Jay
1:1 is most accurate, but in reality a dyno should only be used as a tool to tune or quantify improvements. So as long as the same gear is used on your car results are comparable. I had a pull done once in 4th and thought the results were great. Then went back and had worse numbers...until I noticed they were using 5th (which is correct, STi).
6th gear? That was kind of weird. They all look so nonchalant, like a car has never popped off the craddle before. Last time I had a car tested, they went slowly up the gears until 3rd, but then I was standing right there next to them too.
nice, didnt even tie the car down. when evos get dynoed, the shop by me uses 8 tie-downs. oh, and wouldnt the top of 6th be like 180mph or something? in case it did slip off
