By a sports newspaper this week, retired Formula One driver Michael Schumacher has been spotted secretly turning laps in a go-kart. La Gazzetta dello Sport published a photo of the former Ferrari driver - wearing green and white overalls and his familiar red helmet, gloves and boots - clocking up miles at the 'Garda Karting di Lonato' circuit near Brescia in northern Italy. The national daily reported that Schumacher, 37 - also sporting unfamiliar stubble - did three laps of the closed circuit on Tuesday and then drove close to all day in light rain on Wednesday. It was reported last week that the German intends to contest a 24-hour kart race on his home circuit in Kerpen early next month.
When Michael was 17 he said he wanted to be a professional kart racer and spent all his time focussed on karting. Cars were not in the picture. Like many F1 champs (including Senna) he never won the karting world championship. Perhaps he plans on changing that?
here, from Wikipedia : From 1984 Schumacher won numerous German and European kart championships, including the Formula Konig Series. By 1987 he was the German and European kart champion, at which point he withdrew from school and began working as a mechanic
