Alan, my teenage son has a 'Californiaized' expression for your Countach QV:

    "Sweeeeeet"

He is a QV fan. And I must agree, your QV is rather 'sweet' in period 1980s "Bianco Perlato" and unfettered sans wing. Nice.
By the way, Cosdel tells me that rates from Jolly Old England are not too bad, and if several owners band together, discounts could be possible. I would love make a posting entitled: "Take cover, the Brits are coming!"

    Steve, and other Countach owners:

I should point out that it is not strictly true to simply state that "The Lambo folks stay at the Mariposa Inn".

Lamborghini owners actually stay at a plethora of hotels in and around the Carmel/Monterey area, from Big Sur to Pebble Beach.
I will repeat my suggestion that the girls at www.concorso.com will guide you in this area. Coming together to meet on the green on Friday and the likely driving event on Saturday will be within minutes of driving, no matter which hotel is chosen. Anyone seriously considering the event should be booking a hotel NOW, and my suggestion would be that in all fairness, the Mariposa is not the nicest hotel, and Im sure Countach owners will want to consider other accomodations.

    lol! Joe, that is priceless.

Look, anybody reading this -- drive by the Mariposa Inn during that weekend. You'll find Balboni, Burtoni, Heady, etc. And about 30 Lamborghinis, cuz that's all they have room for.

I've never stayed there so I really don't care. But...it's true. Strictly or not.

    Happy Turkey Day. :)

After the last couple threads, especially the one in which Fred proclaimed that Lamborghini's most influential car was the Jarama, and then the other one in which his obvious bitterness towards those who have a successful commercial interest in Lamborghinis, frankly its quite surprising (or perhaps not!) to see Fred on this thread. One would think that rational people learn their lesson after they have consistently made a real fool of themselves in multiple threads in a particular community. But perhaps not Fred!

I will therefore point out to anyone on this website and anyone reading this thread that not only does Fred not own a Countach, and will have ZERO influence in the planning and participation of a Countach reunion, but Fred is not even a subscribed member of this website!!

There are many who will consider it a victory if Fred actually prised open his rather tight wallet to pony up the $ to become subscribed and therefore a valid member of this website, but obviously the price (or in Fred's case, pain) of subscription is obviously rather too much to bear. Id like to suggest that until such time, nothing he has to say here has any vested value, and even if he does decide to subscribe, a labelled disclaimer with moderator supervision should be mandatory. LOL. Starting positive interesting threads that have relevance and value to website participants is the way to become a relevant part of this site (take note Fred), but chiming in with redundant, biased, and illogical BS quickly establises oneself as a persona non-grata.

Perhaps moderator activities at VLG are not enough to keep Fred busy (LOL), but as they say, a word to the wise is enough, and as far as this thread is concerned, take all Fred's irrational & irrelevant ramblings with a pinch of salt. As of now they are not even worth the price of a subscription...

Does that mean the Mariposa Inn is "Senior freindly"? Maybe they have ramps instead of stairs and serve Ensure and apple sauce for room service. Oh, that's right, they don't have room service. The Mariposa is a dump.

By the way Joe, I tried setting up a Jalpa reunion, but most were in the shop and the others couldn't make it 2 miles out of their driveways.

    ROFLMAO!!! VERY good Keith....

In all seriousness, the Mariposa was chosen by the club for logistical reasons and even though it is still used by them, these days Lamborghini owners tend to stay in more salubrious surrondings. That was the point I was trying to make pursuant to thread-terrorist Fred's blanket statement that "Lamborghini owners stay at the Mariposa". And no, Valentino Balboni does not always stay at the Mariposa. If he can make it this next year I will likely have him as my own guest, somewhere else.

Anyone who wants my take on Lamborghini-freindly hotels that are cool places to stay, PM me.

Lastly, there seems to be interest for a rather exclusive reunion of sorts: Diablo's SE30. With just 25 possible USA cars, a gathering of that rare variant should be interesting, and will be dealt with in another thread (John, Keith, Oleg, Vahe....etc, watch for it).

Last time I stayed with the Lambo club it was at a the Hilton as I recall. Very nice with underground parking etc.You could not just call and book a room. You had to do it through the club as I recall. I am not new to the Monterey events. I have been there every year since 1995.Probably still a rookie compared to Joe though:)

As I recall some years back, but I might be wrong Joe brought a wonderful blue Miura SV (ex Shah of Iran car).Very Cool car!!!

Look forward to seeing some Countach's next year. The showings in recent years have been very limited.

Hilton IS cool for those who value the protection of underground parking, as is the Plaza on Cannery Row, etc etc.

    As I always say:
"Hair was long, skirts were short, and anything was possible!"
Enjoy these treasures from the dusty archives...the black-and-white images are of 1120202, the first ever parallel-linked suspension Countach, and the dark blue car is of course 1121001.

Frankie J. Bradley was a man who believed in driving his Countach (registered "FJB 1") as fast as it would go. This car was in fact the first Lamborghini I ever set eyes upon sometime in the early 80s. The Countach S Series 1 with its 'Preying Mantis' stance and menacing posture embodies the Countach as it developed. Enjoy some examples of the car from back in the period.

Sorry to upset you Joe. Really. I know you're a sensitive guy and all.

    ;^D

I just want to point out to folks that if they only listen to you they can get...um...misled. Hey, maybe even worse. They can end up selling their car to a dealer. (boy, that was sure good advice)

Joe, I was part of the original Concorso, back in 1984 or whatever, when it was just the Lambos and Maseratis. About 20 of us.

I was born in Carmel and grew up in Monterey and still have a house there. So yeah, when I hear that you're teaching everybody about Concorso and Monterey...I get worried.

So Joe...you showed up on FerrariChat in May. Suddenly you think you own the place.

Well, maybe you do. But everybody knows you're just digging for business.

I mean, everybody that really knows.

    Cheers,

    Fred

Your point? A dealer is allowed to buy a car for himself too, especially if he goes on to spend six figures to restore it... do you mean the Countach LP400 that went to Roy Cats which he KEPT and is restoring? Why dont you go ahead and say whats on your mind Fred, cmon dont be shy! LOL. No regrets on ANY car Ive helped find a new home, as its always been for the BEST $ at the time.
Fred, you may be ancient, but in 1985 I was already a Countach owner, and Ive been prominently enthusiastic about Lamborghinis and active in getting enthusiasts together for at least 15 years....so what I joined Ferrari Chat in May? At least Im not a cheapskate and have subscribed (unlike you). Also, I dont make inaccurate proclamations about subjects I know little about (unlike you) thats why I stick to Miuras and Countachs. Oh, and I actually own the cars I discuss (unlike you).
If your misguided notion that the sole reason Im on Ferrari Chat is digging for business, then all I can say is that it is paying awesome dividends! LOL. Actually, my activity with helping people find cars has remained unchanged for several years...it just wasnt public knowlege...till YOU heard about it on Ferrari Chat and the Lamborghiniregistry. Ive been doing this with great pleasure for quite a few years and everybody knows...I mean, everybody that really knows.

    Cheers ;-)

    LOL!! Hahahahahhahahah....very funny Walter!

As you know I have a detailed Countach book already in the works, having started writing it and putting it together 12 years ago!. However, I ALSO have a detailed Miura book in the works that I started 7 years ago, and my experienced publisher (I have just made an agreement!!) advised that the Miura book should come FIRST, then the Countach book. So if all goes well (the Miura book is already in the publishers hands), the Miura book will be out next summer in time for Concorso (or soon thereafter - I dont want to jinx it), and the Countach book will be out 2008. Beleive me both books are real 'Bibles' with everything from design to production to each chassis number.
So, after family life with my wife and 3 children, running 2 businesses, restoring cars and enjoying them, writing books, standing on my head and spinning plates, sending flowers to my wife, calming my mechanic down, being a therapist to my teenage son, resolving disputes in my businesses, organizing Lamborghini reunions to the benefit and enjoyment of others, digging for business on Ferrari Chat (according to Fred Parottud), etc, etc, there is precious little time in my life and I am NOT writing any other books!
