Had a nice long look at a fantastic 275GTB long nose two cam (dark grey) at the 356 concourse today. Also saw an F355B in the vicinity (I think he was leaving the concourse as I arrived). Also saw 3 of the 4 Fox F-cars at our end of year gathering today (not really a 'spot', I suppose) and a Mondial in Hampton.
Geez Roman, didn't see you there would have said hello. There was also a red 275 earlier in the morning and a nice silver Dino. Saw Robert Bailey drive past in his E-type, but not sure if he stuck around or went straight to the Jaguar Concours, also saw a Gullwing passing through.
yea i bought that car new in '95 owned it for 3 years and sold it with 8,ooo kms on the speedo.ordered 2 years before it was delivered, great car.any RS 2.7s at the concour.think the 275GTB was the one J.Allan restored.
No RS 2.7s this year, have been a few the last couple of years. 993 GT2 showed up though, didn't stay for long nor did it enter the park.
looked more fun then the jag concour. As I drove by what was the latter model 911 with the wing?White in colour.
Did the rounds of some of the local Club displays in Perth in the 365GT today, but only spotted 1 other Ferrari. It was a left hand drive US spec (ugly bumpers and side repeater lights) 308 GTSi that's recently been registered. People seemed excited to see it, but I didn't want to disappoint them... There were some nice bikes there, but as it was quite hot numbers were down a little. South Perth foreshore is good for watching air racing, but little shade for people in motorcycle riding gear...Some nice 750 & 900SS's from the 1970s though... Most noteable from the Fiat/Lancia club display was 2 Stratos, one the "Group 4" style car from the York Museum/Briggs collection (plus there were 3 X19s for Ash) there were also two genuine 124 Abarth Spiders (only 4 in the country I'm told). It's also suprising that all the 124 Sports seem to have disappeared. They used to dominate the Fiat scene much as 105 Series cars do with Alfas, but they have all rusted away I think...Most impressive one is Tony Lucente's 124 racecar with a turbocharged 16 valve motor. It has over 500HP at the rear wheels, but in typical style, Tony tends to turn up the boost to 11 on the scale of 10 and doesn't always finish races He's a lovely guy though and does great work on the 365! Jaguar Club had a good display of 70 plus cars at Houghtons Winery in the Swan Valley. Friend of mine brought his Maser Indy along with his XK140 Roadster and there was a nice selection of real XKs present as well as some E-Types for Rob Bailey. I was most taken with a LHD 3.8 Roadster, early car with the alloy dash & console, flat floors, welded in bonnet vents etc. Rob will know what I'm talking about! I guess some of this should be in the "others" spotting threaqd, but I can't be bothered. Left my camera on the kitchen table on the way out too
Hi Andrew, how is the shop going, bought of T.Johns book called Aston Martin a racing history, good book Stillwell and DAVO get good mention.
Andrew, Peter Briggs' Stratos is a genuine Group 4 car, one of about 40 prepared. It never ran for any "name" teams and has no history so is largely forgotten by the international Stratos fraternity. Peter is not at all naive about its real value...
Hi Ian I know it's a genuine car, but I recall that the problem is that it doesn't have a proper 'chassis number' anywhere, so that it's history can't be recalled. It's done up in Alitalia colours and looks good anyway. Other Stratos was a 'normal roadgoing' version. Rob - We've got the Aston book here and it looks nice, but I've not had much time of late to have a look at it. Too busy! (Which is good, but bad if you get my meaning) BTW everyone, Rob is in the last issue of Australian Jaguar Magazine ( or Jag Mag or whatever it's called now)
Went home (Adelaide) for the weekend, on Saturday evening saw a silver 550 [JCB 550] on Jerringham St (sp?) North Adel, doesn't someone here own it? Then on Melbourne St a little later saw a red (corsa) F430 coupe, I think the plate was a 4 digit number, 1402 or something.. didn't get a good look. Now back in Melbourne today, a red 575 on Faraday St Carlton
