Welcome all. I am looking at buying Marc H's 328. I've seen the videos from Tuscany and Scotland, have exchanged a number of e-mails with Marc about the car and we're in the process of trying to arrange a mutually convenient time to see the car which is not easy given I'm in Warsaw and Marc is in the UK.

I have a question to the German contingent. Since we don't have Ferrari specialists in Poland, Berlin seems like the closest place where an F car could get a proper service. Is there an independent specialist that you could recommend thereabouts and what are the rates for major and regular servicing? All I can find is the Scuderia official dealership. Marc's car has 54 k km on the clock and has had the cambelts done this spring so short term there is not huge work to be done but if there is something coming up which a local spanner cannot fix I would like to know what my options are.

    Thanks for any replies

    Przemek,

First of all congratulations on a perfect choice. I hope that the deal will work out in satisfaction for both of you.
I am not sure that there are people within our forum that live in the Berlin area. That will make it a bit more complicated.
Is there no independent specialist in Poland?
Is Dresden not a better choice than Berlin?

    Hi Ton.

I have local mechanics who are very good but have probably never worked on Ferraris before although a service manual, experience, common sense (and access to this forum ;-) ) should work OK for all but the most challenging jobs. I would just like to know what kind of backup options exist. Also I am clueless about the costs of servicing in Europe in general.

Dresden is further away and down some really crap roads. Berlin is closer and there is a motorway over half of the 600 km needed to get there.

Anyway my German is hopeless so I woudl generally hate to have people working on my car who I cannot communicate with properly so I was hoping to maybe find a fchat subscriber closer to home.

There are a couple of 308's, a 360 Spider, gorgeus 330 GTC and an Enzo in Warsaw. A friend has his Mondial serviced at a Volvo dealership of all things. I guess if I take the plunge it shouldn't be difficult to touch base with these other Ferrari owners but as far as I'm aware most of them have their cars serviced somewhere in Berlin.

Vienna is another option. Any Austrians on board?

    Best Regards

The 3x8 Ferrari's are amongst the easiest Ferrari's to service. I don't think that you will have a problem. Another thing is that once you own a Ferrari you automatically get in contact with other Ferrari owners. They will provide you with a lot of useful information.

Good luck! Let me know if I can be of any help.

I know there is a good guy in Berlin who is servicing his own 308 all by himself and some other Fcars too. He knows a lot about the 3x8 series and where to by best parts from UK etc...
He is a 100% Ferrarist and seems to be very picky with his cars.
Now go and buy a Fcar first. ;)

Hey - it's not easy from where I'm sitting. Every car is at least a full day and return flight away :-(

The Berlin guy sounds promising. If or when I take the plunge I will ask you for his details.

Also if I go ahead with this I would want to do Tuscany 2007 :)

Just to keep this thread alive. This is an interesting vehicle a good friend is manufacturing in Poland. Aluminium chassis, Corvette drivetrain.

If we were to do a Central European trip I would arrange a visit to the factory like we did with the MX-5 club to see real artisans at work beating aluminium into shape. And yes that's a Daytona in there :)

    przemek;

it's great to hear another ferrari is coming to poland :)

there's one mechanic who had worked with ferraris on several occasions (he's restoring a daytona at the moment) so he may offer you some help as well - http://www.classicmotors.pl/

    about the proper servicing:
there's a very good ferrari service in prague - http://www.hp-exclusiv.cz/

still, as far as i know for some reason nearly all polish ferrari owners service their cars in berlin...

Whoa not so fast... So far I've booked the flight and plan to see Marc and the 328 on Monday next week but the car is advertised elsewhere and I have yet to see it. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes according to plan.
