So this is the cat that's partially responsible for the horid music on the radio these days? I guess it sells, so good for him, but I just don't get it. Even the new Jay-Z tracks are lame, R&B guys need to get back to their roots and quit with the Casio keyboard beats, haha.

Kids are eating it up with a spoon though, so hey...why the hell not. Producing is where it's at, best way to make some $ in the industry. Make some good beats and your ticket it signed to the big money.

At least this guy sounds (from posts on this thread) to be a cool dude and not an ******....and he likes car to boot, so that's a bonus. Just hope he doesn't spend all his money on them.

    Cheers.

casio keyboards, hahaha. thats about the quality of the "music".
the music is definitely not up to par to even be considered hip hop, but you must be clueless [unless you're being sarcastic; i can't tell]. as far as the most popular and best paid mainstream producers goes, the majority of them work on $1+ mil. mixing boards. its no joke.

however, look up the term "hip hop" in the dictionary and it will go on to tell you that its a culture derived from breaking [breakdancing], dj'ing, mc'ing [or rapping] and graffiti. the majority of these mainstream "hit producers" are not directly involved in any of these aspects, therefore they shouldn't refer to themselves as being hip hop, plain and simple.

storch actually was apart of the roots [the group] early on, but even the roots fell off. its people like storch that made hip hop die in 97...

as far as his cars go, great for him. i may not relate to his personal taste, but if his money is being made from degrading hip hop, then i definitely don't support him.

ps. real hip hop culture can't be seen on mtv, and the real artists are people you'd know of only if you were directly involved within the culture.

    Great post. So true.

I've played and worked with a few of the pioneers, Afrika Bambaataa, The Rock Steady Crew, etc. being a few of them. Funny, but you really don't really need a full-blown Neve console anymore to make rap. Modern rap is 99% electronic music anyway, 99% of the synths are now software based, so 99% of it can be done with a small Mackie board and some good monitors.

A good mic and mic pre is about the ONLY thing you need to plug into a board anymore.

Just got The Game album, Doctor's Advocate - Scott Storch produced 'Let's Ride' and 'Too Much'. IMO two of the best songs on the album. Having said that the rest of the album is pretty good. Storch's beats are instantly recognisable. They really stand out.

He was on the MTV show 'Making The Band 3' too. He was producing a track for the group and it showed him in the studio. I *think* maybe there was a glimpse of his white murci roadster too...

Sic isn't it? Most major rap records, even that new pop/R&B/whatever sound is being done in bedrooms, with homemade vocal booths. They aren't even mixing on big consoles anymore, but mixing records in Pro-Tools in sub-par monitoring environments.

storch uses a pretty outrageous setup...

music seems to get more and more horrible as technology gets better. specifically, i HATE seeing dj's use there powerbooks and serato when i go to a show. dj's need to haul around crates of records instead of a laptop bag...

I was in South Beach 2 weeks ago and Scott Storch's Buggati was parked outside of a club along with a Black Gallardo. Saw a silver SLR and I'm almost postive I saw the same SLR the other night.

Let me upload my pictures of his Veyron taken with my cellphone. Keep in mind I was in motion and it was a mission to capture the whole car accurately.

Also, I wasn't Euro Motosports was in Deerfield Beach. One weekend I might have to make a trip out there to check out the dealership and inventory.

    Cheers !

I live on the beach and have seen the SLR around a few times. Saw Scott Storch himself Friday night at Mansion as I was leaving the VIP and he was entering. The dude was rocking a Billabong jersey, which I thought was pretty funny...guess he was trying to roll incognito.

8 pages of posts over some guy (who could care less about any of you or what you think about him) and a bunch of his cars.

    Very interesting..

I'm going back to look at some p0rn to cleanse my mind.

I was sponsored by Stanton for a little while when Final Scratch came out. I was a pretty early adopter of the technology but dropped it after a show in Denver where I had to try and unhook the system while another guy was playing. This was something I had to do every time and it also requred getting there early to set it up. Pain in the ass and too much work, although if I were a resident somewhere, it would be a great "static" setup. I carry fewer records now than I did in the past. I play more cds than anything. All that vinyl just too difficult to deal with in airports and heave up and into the overheads.

I'm with you on that. I gotta admit though, my friend has a powerbook with serato and a drum machine thing hooked up and its pretty cool.

I travel pretty extensively with a Roland HPD-15 (electronic hand percussion). All these things are great, but flying coast to coast with them and trying to adapt them to specific nightclub/dj booth setups is a real nightmare sometimes. That was another big reason I stopped using Final Scratch. It would work fine in Seattle, but the next night in Charlotte, you couldn't access the back of the mixer to plug anything in and were SOL. Thing was, you'd have to start using vinyl in those cases, so what was the point? Like I said, works better when you have a static setup somewhere.

I personally think Scott's headed down the road of hardship personally.

His spending is out of control and from what I have read, he's not being used nearly as much as he once was.

I mean, brook hogan's album tanked didnt it? His net worth is "only" 70 million dollars. and he just bought himself a 20 million dollar yacht? I think in 10 years this guy's going to be hurting.

Even if he is getting royalties off each track sold, who's going to be buying these albums in 10 years.. no one will even remember these 'artists'.
