Excellent Post. I agree the 308 Series in my opinion is arguably the most beautiful cars in the world. As far as giving Matt a hard time, it is BS.
No arguement with me. I feel like it is. At least it is in my eyes and has been since I was 13. I think it looks best as a fly yellow GTB circa 1977. To me that is its purest form. (And no that's not what I have either. Mine is a black GTS QV)
For Dr. Tommy, then! 1977 308GTB Yea, it has a few rough edges, but when you open it up thru that ANSA, all of downtown Houston Texas can hear it coming! Image Unavailable, Please Login
My question about this is besides the labor, are there going to be any parts that are going to have to be remanufactured? Whenever I try to get a part for my 308 at the dealer, they say that it is not made anymore. I assume that Ferrari is going to have to remanufacture some parts with their sources and I cannot imagine that this will be cheap or that it will be included. Any idea what will be needed and what the new parts might cost alone absent of labor?
That's not correct....ALGAR, T Rutland's and Ferrari UK all have parts for our older cars...I've ordered body crash parts and such from all these sources....
Not all parts. I was in need of a hose from the Pump to Accumulator and it was not available new. It had to be made.
Those guys don't have new tops for GTS', they don't have the rubber that goes around the back window...subpar aftermarket bumpers... There are lots of things they don't have from my experiences.... They hardly ever have windshields... Besides, many of those parts are made by manufacturers here in the US.... Ferrari won't want to use aftermarket parts...
BigTex, That picture is awesome. Granted, you must be BIG, (otherwise why would we call you BigTex) but few pictures show how small the 308 is like that one! Birdman
No, that is what you live in after you pay the bill to have your car 'factory' restored and realize your equity position...
I was at a San Jose Home Depot last night and saw THAT TV for $1499! They had about ten of them stacked up near the front enterance.
LOL! Just saw this post...yea, I'm 6' 3" in flat shoes...the car is just dwarfed by that 200' flaming dragon Drakka, that's all......when it's parked next to the final Trans Am and is 10" shorter. that's LOW! Everybody come party at the Art Car Ball next year, it's a blow out!!!
I had a brief exchange with a noted expert on here...his position, which I share, is that the expertise exists in the US to replicate any skill the Factory can offer....... Now I realize this is sacriledge to some, and won't get you the paperwork to hang on the wall, but IMO he's absolutely correct... It isn't about what you hang on the wall, it's what's behind your ear.........
That's not the point. Of course it can be replicated here. Labor rate is $80 per hour. Parts and patterns are on hand. Certification is done while it's there. There is a lot more to it then tossing them the key's saying buff and wax it.
Jim G, Wax, Wayne have all seen the emails. Jim knows one of them very well and has been very helpful. Are they FoS or do you like hear the sound of your voice?
