The heritage number plate market continues to soar. Prices achieved at last night's auction:

    370- $47,000
    661- $37,000
    989- $50,000
    1234- $47,000
    2274- $20,000
    181-182 $9000
    282-828 $9,200
    58-013 $7000
    77-177 $10,000

Seriously strong prices for these lower rank plates. Looks like crazy prices for single and double digit plates have flowed on down the line.

    amazing prices...

makes your "275" look pretty healthy ;)

even more amazing when you can get Ferrari ideal numbers for quite reasonable sums

I've currently got "F308" and "M550" for sale, but I haven't advertised them. Perhaps I should.

but they're just custom plates, fine for the latte-ferrari-crowd, but they don't have the class of a numeric plate.

I overpaid substantially at the time for both my plates as I just wanted them and the owners were not fussed at selling. Very comfortably in the black now.
I strongly suspect that these plates are being purchased by cashed up self managed super funds.

I SO don't get the whole plate thing...

I like ANY Ferrari model number... but names are just, well.... err

I saw PLESS and PLESS 1.......

    says enough for me!

I so don't get the English plate thing. You can't get anything that makes any sense and the prices make ours look sane!

The only good Pommie plate I can recall is 250GTO on Nick Mason's GTO

    I agree.

there were a few good variations on words.... the very first Ferrari I ever worked on was 308 GTB reg.. BOR 158 V..

    forever ...... BORIS 8V

and then there's things like PEN 15 and TUR 80 etc etc..

basically, I can see the point of trying to de-age your car... but pretentious crap just bugs me...

yar, silly 'clever' plates are annoying, if you have to have a wanker plate then get the word right, puzzles are silly. i love just plain numeric plates, and don't mind custom plates (with above rules) as it gives the car an identity when you're referring to it.

has there been a time in the recent past 10-15 years where there has been a big dip in the prices of historic victoria number plates? eg has there been plates that have been purchased for 50k one year and sold the follwing year for 25k? very hard to know what to do at the moment for someone like myself who is in the market to make a purchase.. not afraid of loosing some money in the short term, just afraid of getting burned like dropping 25 grand on a plate like paying 50k now and selling for 25 in 5-10 years time..

    Any thoughts?
