Sunday December 10th benefit rally for Juvenile Diabetes Research. We are meeting in Queens (for you city folks), and on the North shore (for you LI folks) at 9am and rallying to East Meadow for brunch from 10am -12noon. Price is $75 per person. If anyone is interested please send me an email. We are not disclosing the locations here for safety and security reasons. This is a rain or shine event, and no you do not need to own an exotic to participate. So bring out your car and join us for a terrific fund raising event for a great cause.

I will try hard to make this; will let my brother know as well.
    Great cause.

I've gotta say...juvenile diabetes really really sucks.
On my peds rotation, we had an adorable 7-year old come in from camp in DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis), a life-threatening condition...his blood sugar level was in the 700s, he could hardly talk, altered mental state, smelled like acetone, etc.
Now for the rest of this life, he's gotta be getting insulin injections daily, stay away from lots of food, and get his finger stuck multiple tiimes. We had to rip out a teddy bear dressed up as a doctor to get him accustomed to needles and all. Worst of all, his parents (and later him) have to deal with the dismal sentence of the long-term consequences of diabetes- kidney failure, retinopathy (visual problems), nerve problems....
Being diagnosed as an adult is one thing. As a kid...it must really really suck, especially when you get to the age of browsing the internet and finding out what's in store. With that said, yeah- plenty of meds slow the process, but when sh*t like this happens at such a young age....just sympathy.

kudos for setting this up, hope the turn out is great.
I'll e-mail you as the date gets closer for more info.

I know what you mean about this disease. I was just a contributor for the past years, just donating and hoping for a cure. But a few months ago this disease hit home, my daughter was diagnosed with it. So now it has become personal. There have been great advancements in the treatment of this disease, and sooner or later there will be a cure. Islet cell transplantation looks promising.

    Thank you for your help.

I haven't had time to update my profile. The 430 is sold, it's actually in a different country. Nothing yet on the Zonda/Saleen, i kind of put it on the back burner for now. But it's a hard to choose between the two. I'm leaning towards the Saleen, the Zonda is beautiful but it's a little on the weird side.

Would love to attend, especially considering the cause. I had a good friend when I was a kid that suffered from juvenile diabetes - it was a terrible ordeal for him to suffer through. He would have to be home by 9 pm every night for injections - and would try to make excuses for us about why he would have to be home at that time as it was embarassing for him. We always told him that it was nothing to be ashamed of, but it still bothered him... It's great to see that there are some pharmaceutical companies working on replacing the injections with more comfortable methods of delivering insulin (just bought some stock in a company developing an insulin pill).

As I am pretty much in the middle (Nassau County) of both Queens and the North Shore, could you provide some insight into what towns they will be in?
