They are making the LP's in Roadster?
I noticed that Tom, i think its only gonna get worse once the f430 becomes a thing of the past at the end of the decade. I have seen already 5 430s come up for sale....im sure there are more that i dont know.
ahhh mr. rick you are forgetting one thing, the 360 was made for 6 years with a production number somewhere near 18,000 the 430 has a limited run of 2.5 years. The way I look at it is less 430's built=less for sale. People that think they will be able to get a 430 for cheap are going to be surprised when people hold on to them, and THEN the 360 prices will stop dropping.
Yeah TJ got a white fetish going on right now with all his cars being white. James, how much is a the roadster?
Correct me if im wrong my friend, but these are the numbers i know. 12,000 355s 15,000 360s 18,000 430s As for the 2.5 yr run i think you maybe wrong......the 430 was out in 2005, and 2007 is close at hand, and no new model has been introduced...im thinking the 430 will last until 2009/2010. All the reports i have read lead towards this.
Not sure about production numbers,Ferrari Market Letter will have a more accurate account, but I do know the 430 WILL NOT be allowed into North America after 2007 due to some airbag issue, infact Ferrari had to sign some clause because of it.
I can guarantee you that the issue will be solved long before the end of 2007. There is no way a simple airbag would keep the 430 out of North America. The dealers are telling the public this, so they can demand big dollars for them, but it's all a crock. No offence to you, I'm sure you're just passing on information.
i agree, and i am just passing info along but from what i understand they 430 will continue to be made, just not for North America, who knows though really?
Actually, it's possible that they may not. I believe this is the same reason they decided to stop production of the NSX because the sales were much too low to support the cost for retrofitting for side impact airbags. Even though the 430 has significantly higher volume, in the big picture even 18k cars is pretty tiny and may not be worth the additional expense of redesigning the car for this, especially if they know they can move the full run outside of North America. I wouldn't be surprised if 2007 were the last year for 430's in North America -- which will only drive up the value of their cars even more, so it's a win-win situation for Ferrari
I don't really think Ferrari is gonna lose one of its biggest markets (California) in the world just becuase of an airbag.
it's irrelevant what you or I or californians think. what matters is the car DOES NOT MEET SAFETY STANDARDS. and the u.s and cdn governments will not allow them AFTER 2007, who knows maybe they'll pump out 25000 for 2007?
I agree. Look at the cars that are being manufactured in China as we speak. They are absolute junk, for now. But they will be arriving on our streets very soon. I doubt they are "ISO 9000" or "QS 4000" or meet any quality or safety standards such as these. Just a thought...
WTF, James is not just talking about California. Where in the world did you guys get California anyway? But yes, it's hard to believe they will ignore their largest market because of that. V..
it does not matter if its a peice of junk or not, they meet NORTH AMERICAN safety standards which the 430 does not. come on guys it really doesn't matter what I think, you think or anyone thinks the only thing that matters are the facts. Now this info is approximatley 1-2 months old so things may have changed but as far as i know, it's still a fact. p.s i just sold a 2007 430 spider.
It boils down to dollars and cents and what makes the most financial sense for Ferrari. Customer goodwill is important, but at the end of the day the bottom line is what drives their business. The car was not designed with the 2008 requirements in mind, and there is a certain cost associated with retrofitting the car for that. In a car of this design it may not be a simple task adding in something like a side curtain air bag and if they are confident that they can sell their entire limited run outside of the north american market then it's not like they are going to lose any money on the deal. If they suddenly had to cut down on their production forecast because of this, it would be a different story. The money losing proposition for them would be to redesign the car to meet the standards and then only sell a few thousand of them in North America and possibly not even break even on the redesign. Anyways, this is all just speculation on my part because I haven't even read up on what part of the safety standard they don't meet or how much they estimate to retrofit etc. But I think it's certainly plausible that they may go this route because it makes the most financial sense. After all, they are a business and at the end of the day they need to keep making money.
Who cares if California or entire North America loses the F430 sales. Ferrari can sell all of them in Eu or anywhere else. USA is the cornerstone for global car sales, yes there is big profits there but there are many areas of opportunity which are coming up, ie China, Middle East, where new sales can be found. Other buyers in smaller countries have a hard time getting new F cars because of 60% are shipped to NA.
I think the big picture is this, ferrari will not lose out on the NA market. If they are gonna use this is an excuse, my thought would be the demand for the cars have dropped, so the excuse comes out. The 360 market and 430 market will tank regardless, the numbers are way too high in production, wait 13 yrs from now when you import them. We see it already with 348 prices and about 2 years we will see it with 355 as well. PS. i thought this whole thing with the aribag got rectified?
PS. i thought this whole thing with the aribag got rectified?[/QUOTE] no idea. gonna be a typical F-CHAT di ckhead and say....USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION. HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
I was just giving "California" as an example. and I've heard Ferrari's biggest market in North America is California. Hell, there are more Ferraris there than the whole Canada.
Now James, if ya had one that wasn't the Autotrans........ Ah but I'm biased. And I still prefer the Murci. LOL. Nice colour though! DVDs and Autotrans!!!! HAHAHAA!! So James. Those rims. Did it belong to some Rapper or basketball star? LOL. I STILL miss that Diablo you had a few years ago.......

unfortunately more like a rebuilt e-brake setup and a new battery. But feel free to leave your 348 /w tubi unattended near mine for a few hours Todd. So confusing, stock vs Capistro vs X-Ost vs Tubi, what's a broke broken down 348 guy supposed to do - you want to swap me for my test pipes?
