Wow, its amazing that Tan is still thinking he might get some money sent to his "ebay" escrow account. This creep deserves what he will gets if he gets pinned for this and who knows what else...

If only these con guys put as much effort into making an honest living as they do trying to steal peoples money......

Well they may get some twisted pleasure out of it... freakin weirdos.

I dealt with several Ferrari "sellers" who worked duplicate copy titles as above. I'm extremely pleased to see that you are going to bust that crook.

Some are direct cons. Some are using the duplicate titles (modified via home pc, no doubt) to hide accident history. Others are hiding that they haven't paid their state registration and sales taxes on the car.

My problem with eBay is that highly profitable eBay isn't doing ownership verification through state title/vehicle agencies on the cars that are listed there (which is their core business), whereas Ferrari does that state agency ownership verification to simply issue a **password** to the free Ferrari Owners' website.

Thus, eBay isn't doing due diligence to prevent con jobs. It's going to get eBay slapped down hard in the future.

I appreciate you taking this as far as you can. It's time to take the criminal element out of the Ferrari business!

It should be easy pickings for law enforcement. These crooks advertise either in the DuPont Registry or else on eBay, and they have very similar MO's that are easily detected by law enforcement (e.g. not having the title match the name/address of the seller, forged title, etc.).

285Ferrari could probably write up an outline of how to detect such fraud in general.

I can tell you that if the Ferrari doesn't have a valid, non-dealer, non-temp license plate in the state that it is being sold, or if the name on the title doesn't match the name of the Seller, or if carfax lists "duplicate title" that you should procede only with caution (if at all) on any such purchase.
