Thinking of buying my wife a gift for a landmark birthday, and what better gift than a 355 GTS? Possibly Spider, but I prefer the look of the GTS. She definitely will want a removable top of some sort. We currently have an 02 Porsche 996 C4 cab, which we'll keep.

All of our current cars are black, but we also like white. So I'll be looking for black or white. Her birthday isn't until next August, so I can't get anything too soon -- but I figure in 9 months I should be able to find something I like.

I've seen a couple of white 355's and they look sweet -- and black too of course. Definitely set on one of those 2 colors.

I'll do some more research before I post questions... but of course the first thing is to decide what is the best year to get, and I assume the answer is the newest car you can get.

Anyway, if anyone knows of a black or white 355 GTS that will become available in the next 9 months... let me know! :)

    Thanks!
    Scott

p.s. this is where the Ferrari will live:

Sweet garage man! Good luck playing it as a wife bday present...I already tried that one with no success. Myself I want a red or yellow GTB. As for year, I'm still open. I've read in some posts that the earlier years with the Motronic 2.7 have a bit more power...but have potential valve guide issues as well. Good luck with your search, I'd have a hard time waiting 9 months!

With that garage you need a 430 Spider!!!!

Thanks guys. Still debating whether to upgrade the Porsche to a Turbo cab or add the 355. Don't want to spend more then ~$85k out of pocket so the 430 is out. I like the 355 design better than the 360.

My wife actually drives the porsche a lot more than I do, so she would likely use the 355 more too -- so it really would be a present for her -- no trickery there. ;)

    Hi Scott,

operating the quite heavy 355 GTS roof is to consider.
It's easy with 4 hands but if your wife is left alone with it, I don't know ... :)
Testing this first might spoil her surprise later ...

    good luck!

    PS: nice garage!

Thanks. How easy is the Spider top to operate?

For her fingernails it might be a pain to fix the tight persenning over the top. :D
But overall it's not like a workout session. Thanks to the electro-softtop. ;)
Guess for shorter stints she can let the persenning in the trunk.

Thanks. I like the look of the GTS more, but understand they're harder to find. Guess I'll take a look at both.

Well I was just showing my wife some pics of 355/360s and various other Ferraris, and her favorite was the Yellow 355 GTS. :)

I really like the lines of the GTB and GTS over the Spider. We have a '02 Carrera 4 (996) cab that we'll keep as well so we'll still have a true convertible.

I was going to ask about your weather there, and then I realized you are right up the road!

The open top in the 355 is really, really nice. I was looking for a B at first, but ended with a GTS. Very happy with it. I find it harder to store the top behind the seats than remove it, possibly because I have the sport seats and it is tight. If I know the weather is going to be good, I often leave the top in the garage. In fact, I will soon have a rack to secure it in the garage (in stead of leaning it against the wall). That may be something your wife could do on her own. If you'd like to see the car closer sometime, drop me a PM.

    Cheers!

    -J.

The GTS is a great body style and has the advantage of no convertable top problems. It took me a year to mine.

"GTS" is teasing, it ain't topless, it's kind of like wearing a thong.

Love the garage, please post more pictures!

GTS is like a very low-cut blouse. ;)

I'm digging the video game.....now why didn't I think of that.

I am in awe as I saw you have at least one son and like where are the bikes, buggies, bats and skate-boards?....I'm going to be building a new garage and I've got to do something just to place all their "stuff."

Hello, I am a long time Ferrari lover and a new poster to this site. Like CarreraScott, my wife and I are looking for a 355 GTS. Our one and only color choice is Red with Tan interior. This will be our first Ferrari and we are planning on driving it on the track 1-2x per year, going on the occasional Ferrari group road trip (Concorso, Ferrari Club, etc.) and some weekend driving. With this in mind does it make sense to hold out for a GTS or go with a Berlinetta? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
