Does anyone have a diagram of the front suspension on an early 348, particularly the spring/damper assembly? Thanks.
Check out the parts catalogue on the Ferrari UK website, which you can access through the Ferrari Owners site. They have exploded views and parts listings for just about every part of these cars. Or download one of the parts catalogues from one of the several sites out there that has them (do a forum search, there are links to several of them).
I'm not really sure how early this is, but perhaps it will help. Diagram is from the Werner Schruf "Ferrari 348" book. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hah! I made a mistake, thank you for catching that. I just rechecked the book, and I didn't see a diagram of the front suspension.
All of the 348 diagrams are online at Eurospares, e.g. http://www.eurospares.co.uk/partTable.asp?M=1&Mo=434&A=1&B=23677&S= Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not to nit pick 'cause I appreciate the time to post the pic but that is not the early 348 that is the later frt. suspension the bearings are different on the earlier cars. Regards, Vern
Thanks, Vern. Good catch. Now that I look at the Eurospares web site, they only seem to go back to the 1993 348's.
Hummm..the bearings were changed to that one piece concept in '92 I think, not near my books to tell. Ernie should know exactly he was the one that had some trouble sourcing a new one for his car. Ernie?
That's what I needed, thanks. Unfortunately it gives me a problem! From the diagram it appears that two washers (items 11 and 12) sit one on top of the other on the assembly, which seems strange. Can that be correct or am I misreading the diagram?
There isn't a ledge but there is a chamfer, which the washer might sit against. It seems to reduce the damper travel a lot, but it might be my imagination. Thanks ND, and everyone, for your help on this.
Thank you for posting that web site! Wow, they've done a great job with the exploded part diagrams for a variety of makes and models!!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
