Holy Bull! THAT is one sweet Countach Periscopa....as far as I know its already lost those side-marker lights and the square mirrors in favor of correct Sebring Vitalonis etc, and the engine is being rebuilt 100% (can you say "Motore Spinto" ?). Hey, but I checked my PMs and I have none from you (just people cursing out on Fred)... Joe
Still no PM......? Anyway, something Ive been wanting to say is that I wish Ebay WAS NOT used as a venue for selling old classic Miuras and early Countachs. IMHO, it cheapeans the heritage & provenance of the car which does its value no good whatsoever.... just food for thought. I beleive the old classics have to be sold the old-fashioned way: with an enthusiastic and extremely knowlegable person helping the seller & buyer get together, or, simply seller-to-buyer. Im off my soap box now, so here are some Countach images for the evening..... Joe www.lamborghiniregistry.com PS - The response for owners wanting to bring their cars to the Reunion has been truly overwhelming. Lets hope they live up to their stated intentions and this Reunion will be the biggest one-model Reunion to date by far. If not, Ill show up with mine and nary a soul will be there but me!! What do you do when your QV is broken down an youre sitting in it patiently waiting for the tow truck to arrive??? You flag down strange women, strike up a conversation, and ask them to stay a while and keep you company.....which is exactly what is going on in the image below. A good caption might be: "Honey, when this thing is running, it can get up to 180mph. REALLY..." Anyone have some others to share ??? Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
OK. Finally got your PM, thanks Vic. Yes Im aware of the Countach QV downdraught carbs car in Hemmings for $195,000.00. Oh well.... My LP400 1120110 is at Bobileff's as we speak receiving spa treatment, pedicure, massage, facial and a hot steam bath. When she emerges she will look identical to her sister car (also Nero/Nero) which Ill re-post below. I will have Les Bidrawn my photographer do a studio shoot like he did with My Miura SV 4884 that I posted on this site. Anyway, here is an impression of my Countach diva... Joe, Will you please stop posting picures of that black LP400 next to a red Boxer. You are likely on the verge of being banned for posting sexy pictures in the wrong section. There are rules here you know about pornography.
It is. Those were taken by the previous owner Jeff Makar in Cleveland OH. The pictures were used by Jeff along with the for sale add he had posted on a Countach web site. I came accross his add a day before leaving on vacation with the wife and kids. I copied all the pics including those you posted, pinned them to the walls in our hotel rooms throughout the vacation trying to soften up my wife. She gave me her blessing to go purchase it upon arriving home. I think she got sick of hearing me talk about it so much that she had me buy it just to shut me up. So those very picures are a BIG part of how I came to own a Countach. Thanks for posting them. Greg
Yup...I feel a ban coming on, and for the wrong reasons! Setting Fred straight would have been a worthwhile reason by itself, but.... Anyway, all being well, I will bring a sexy Nero/Nero LP400 to the Reunion. Thats all I can do. The rest is up to other people.... Joe
Very cool story. I must confess, Ive been lucky to have total WAF (Wife Approval Factor) for all my Lamborghinis over the last 20 years. Maybe she knows Id buy 'em anyway (LOL), but its always nice to have your partner's support... NOTHING makes a wife as enthusiastic about smelly old carburetted Lamborghinis as when the current anniversary is celebrated with a gem worth several carats. In such an instance, she actually offers to detail the cars ... and do other things besides! LOL. Joe
Q. this periscopia thing refers to those cars with it's roof divided in 3 sections ? or what's the deal with PERISCOPIA ? or anyother helpful hint to tell LP400 from LP400S etc. Thanks in advance
God bless your wife! My wife has no interest in any of my car hobbies, married for 17 years, and every year of those 17 I've been restoring some sort of special interest car, BUT, I will say with all honesty, the Countach sparks a glimmer of of approval in her eyes when she is around it. And if you knew her than you would know thats saying alot for the Countach. BTW I've got WHMHBLMDWIWTDF (Wife Hates MY Hobbie But Lets ME Do What I Want To DO Factor) So Bless her too. Greg
Its PERISCOPA, and its a purely symbolic design feature, but also serves as a cool little skylight for the cabin!! Joe

On June the 1st 2003 Marcello Gandini came out to California and signed this LP400 at an event he was guest of honor at. Very cool indeed, not only becaues he is the designer of the Miura and the Countach, but because this reclusive man almost NEVER leaves his Turin home/studio. Upon viewing images of the car's interior my wife exclaimed: "Youre going to have to clean off the writing someone's done on the dash...." I remained speechless. Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
