    massa is #5 and kimi is #6. alonso takes his #1 to merc. i thought the constructors championship determined the number; guess not.

    From what I have read, its driver, then constructors. So Alonso would be 1, his teammate 2. I assume Renault 3 and 4, then Ferrari 5 and 6. It's been discussed here a couple of times.

    This might be because it could be viewed as rude or a slap in the face to give Massa #6 when he has been with the team longer. Also Felipe finished higher than Kimi.

    So Fillipe will be the #1 driver?

    I would have thought he'd just keep the same number. But since they color-coded the cameras, there's *always* a "#1 driver" for the team, so maybe they gave Massa #5 to get the correct color camera. ;)

    I would hope he would get number one. I mean imagine if you were Massa and they told you the new guy that finished behind you in the championship was getting the number one car!
