I am 100% sure that at the Motor Industry Research Institute (MIRA) in England where carefully monitored and calibrated crash-tests were performed including that of the LP500, the car would have been thoroughly prepared (as evidenced by its body markings) and checked over to ensure a meaningful test. Any 'foul play' would be summarily eliminated. Out of interest, Id love to know the source that prompted your question (perhaps a publication, or an individual)? Joe
Is one of them Marcello Gandini? That would make sense for the place and time of the photo. Wild shot at the other (shorter?) guy....Bertone?
Oh come on, you can do better than that... BTW, Gandini's almost a recluse, rarely attends shows. Joe
Is the guy in the black suit Giotto Bizzarrini? I dont actually think im right but it looks a little like him more than Dallara or Stanzani anyway.

April 1971, Geneva Salon. The "Bobby drove it over the Alps to get there" story is just that - a story, one of many amongst Lamborghini mythology. Joe
Thanks for posting Alan! The "Bianco Perlato" QV has some serious gold bling going on with those rear badges (its from the 80s remember!), and my old red LP400S S1 had some strange looking door-mirrors on (oh David, what have you done?? <<sigh>>) Joe
Didnt know Ranier had one. Cool. Those USA-bumpers though...Ohhhh, have mercy. Or as they say down south: "Whooee-Lordy!!" Joe
Nope. Re-read some posts...Dallara rarely left home. Guys, Cmon.....To say Im dissapointed would be an understatement ;-) Joe
These are the 2 cars that influenced Marcello Gandini's design of the Countach. The wedge-shaped Stratos and the famous Carabo. Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login

Looks like Bill Loughran's old car (LP5000S) - stored away for years and very low mileage, 600 miles or so. Joe
I remember Bill's first Countach (the silver one on the cover of CAR, January 1976), it was quite a sight on Yorkshire dales where CAR photographed it. ONE of the Countachs that set me on course for all THIS today, Im afraid. I always promised myself as a teen that Id work my socks of a just get a Countach....now, 7 cars later... Joe

In 1971, Nuccio Bertone looked like this, so, no he wasnt one of the two men pictured on the Geneva Show stand by the LP500... Joe Image Unavailable, Please Login
The man in the brown suit is the factory's famed long-term Sales Manager, Ubaldo Sgarzi. He looks as if he is laughing nervously, perhaps wondering: "How the hell am I going to sell a sports car that looks like a friggin spaceship??" The man in the dark suit is the factory's long-suffering PR Chief Etienne Cornil (Yes him who was responsible for the reprinting of Miura power output stats... ahem). He looks as if he is perhaps saying: "Dont worry, Ubaldo, Ill think of something!!" Joe
