Test Drive Unlimited is looking good, might be a good replacement for NFS out on PC Feb07. I liked NFS:MW and even the Ricefest UNdergrounds but I tried the demo of Carbon and couldnt stand it anymore!! I remember playing NFS SE over LAN @ Tafe haha. I remember playing NFS 2 for the 1st time on a Voodoo card
Richard Burns Rally is probably the most realistic driving/rally game I have ever played on a console, it calculates a lot more physics than Gran Turismo does and it is a hell of a lot more fun! At the moment I only play a handful of games, and only one of them regularly... Live for Speed!!! I'm still playing GTA: San Andreas for laughs and sometimes play Falcon 4.0 (F-16 simulator). Most recent game I bought was Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, which is pretty awesome, but a bit disappointing when you discover you can no longer kill your guests, hehehe. Other than those games I play Solitare while I am waiting for downloads to finish!
I remember Syndicate too! In fact, the music is playing in my head now Remember how cool it was to have 8 (or was it 6?) guys in trench coats walking around town with mini-guns and flame throwers!!?? LOL..that brings back memories. Ash, what's a good car sim for the PC? Have you tried on-line racing? Maybe we can start a FerrariChat on-line racing team
terminal coolness i haven't played anything for a few years so not sure what's good nowadays. last one i really got into was Live For Speed, that's a sensational little sim. download the demo and try it out. it was also great in that you can be driving with a dozen folks online within 2 minutes of downloading it as it's very user friendly. once you get bored of racing in it, you can have competitions for who can do the most hilarious damage to their car, it had a wicked damage/physics model last time i played it (03/04), dunno if my pooter would run it nowadays....
my boy wants NFS most wanted, is that any good ? he gets bored after a few hours and never plays the things again and for $100+ a throw I'm not getting him something that lasts a day and is never played again
"your boy"..... haven't played that one but the last few have all been quite the same far as i can tell. probly fun for 3 or 4 hours, and if he's stubborn enough he might try to finish the game. btw NFS:MW should only be $40-50 now, any more than that and you're getting ripped. NFS:Carbon (collectors edition) cost me $70 a couple days ago and that's the latest version.
great, I can save some money for a change, he's got like 30 xbox games and seems to like Robots the best, or at least he plays it more often and it's a really good memory gane from what I can see. How the hell he remembers all the arrays and the little gimmicks I have no idea how he does it I see him play these games and it teaches him nothing about driving cars
One of the best sort of pressies you can buy...not only will Troy enjoy but so will dad. Saw a demo of it in Alice....a good fun toy but not cheap. It is a small racing car hooked up to an onboard computer/simulator...sort of thing you see in game arcades but better. Let me know if you get it, I'll come around and play.
I am more of a PC game person I really like Grand Prix 4, its cool how you can get fiddle with all sorts of settings and the car can go faster or slower. Really good at some tracks when you take the wings down and can blow everyone off in a straight line, but you struggle to stop and get thru the next corners V8Supercar2 is an ok game, but being able to so sub 2 minute laps of Bathurst is not much chop. I preferred the earlier one with the Alfa GTA challenge in it, you could drive it properly, like you would a real car, and could massage a time from it by staying on the road not going over the sandtraps There was also a Rally Championship one, where you have a choice of a WRX, or Skoda or Renault Megane, a Proton Waja and some others.. that was cool too.. fully adjustable like the GP4 game Vice City is great for the music, listening to the Miami Vice music... remembering the good times in the '80's we aspiring to be Don Johnson. Cool that you can buy Miami Vice on DVD now in a box set Never really got into console games... we could never afford one as a child, so never really took an interest... when playing at other people's places, I was usually crap at them anyway... just like Batracer funnily enough
GTR2. Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches, Saleen, Dodge Viper, TVR, etc Officially licensed simulation of the FIA GT Championship.
Alo must agree, i liked the extra vehicles bikes, planes, helecopters, hovercraft's jet packs parachutes etc, but it just wasnt as captivating as GTA3 or Vice City, at least however there was that piss weak aeroplane in GTA3 (although quite tough to fly), and the chopper in Vice city
I must agree one of the best stragey games of all time, im not into the KKND and Command & Conquer stuff,
Thanks! Any recommended brand of equipment I should get (ie. Saitek etc)? Might drop by Berlin Wall later to check it out. All this talk of games has gotten me interested again I like your HOTAS choice. I have the CH Products Fighter Stick Pro, Pro Pedal and Pro Throttle (all gathering dust now). It helped me become one of the top on-line dogfighter (gunzo and CAC) for Janes F18, Flanker and LOMAC...lol...talk about mis-spent youth...
Its the best sim I've ever played! I bought it when it was released in like 97/98 and recently bought Falcon 4.0: Allied Force but I still play BMS and SP3 because they have had a lot more development time. Its unbelievable how far that game has come since it was released. Good to see another member here is familiar with it.
Anyone serious about racing simulators needs to read this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_racing_simulators Another "in" game is R-Factor, alot like LFS but the modding community seems to be alot bigger so its much easier to get a F1 car around Bathurst. RACE comes from the creators of GTR2 and its got WTCC, should be out on STEAM by now.. Im a HUGE fan of GrandPrix series. I started playing GP1, then GP2 onwards use to have serial link races!! also dial into the PC!! ahh those were the days!!! I remember the VGA/SVGA modes well!! GP3/2000 got afew LAN sessions happening, GP4 was good but I dont think it was much better that GP3... FIA giving the license to Sony only, pretty muched killed the GP series as were always behind the times with carsets... Actually I wonder if they still working on a GP5(googles).
Also have a Thrustmaster Ferrari 360 Force Feedback steering Wheel It sits in the box most of the time tho!!! haha.
I was part of a virtual squad (941st Sabre Wolves) and Falcon 4.0 (SP3) was one of the sims we used when we were in the mood for co-op sorties. I miss the days of dodging SAMS over Nth Korea and yelling over voice comms "SAM LAUNCH, SAM LAUNCH BEARING 225, TAKING EVASIVE ACTION"...followed by 2 mins later "..COBRA 2 IS HIT, EJECTING, REQUEST SAR!"... ahh...the good ole days.. much better being in a REAL flight simulator like I use to play in while in the RAAF I use to bomb the crap out of San Francisco
Didnt scarface just come out?? Is the game easy or something? Or did you spend 50 hours straight on it?
