I don't know if things have changed recently, but it may be difficult to get the police involved immediately when you voluntarily gave possession of the vehicle to a person, unless a sufficient time has elapsed from the time you gave him possession of the vehicle. I have not researched this issue and my concern may be BS, but I remember one of our employee's relatives faced this issue when they let someone test drive their car and the guy didn't return it. The police did not want to do anything for 30 days. This could just have been a local police policy. Nevertheless, it would not hurt to contact the Houston police and see if they can be of any assistance. Police don't usually like to get into contractual disputes, but the significant value of the vehicle may get them interested.

Also if this guy is a licensed dealer you may want to go after him through the Texas Department of Transportation which licenses dealers. The administrative code can be found here http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/readtac$ext.ViewTAC?tac_view=4&ti=43&pt=1&ch=8 and complaints are noted here: http://info.sos.state.tx.us/pls/pub/readtac$ext.TacPage?sl=R&app=9&p_dir=&p_rloc=&p_tloc=&p_ploc=&pg=1&p_tac=&ti=43&pt=1&ch=8&rl=27 and the complaint forms can be found here: http://www.dot.state.tx.us/forms/motor_vehicle.htm and a description of the process is located at http://www.dot.state.tx.us/services/motor_vehicle/complaints_against_vehicle_dealers/consumer_complaints.htm As you will note that these forms are primarily set up to assist purchasers, you or your attorney may want to contact the legal department of the TDOT.

If this doesnt get resolved quickly, I would get a Houston attorney involved ASAP and this would be especially true if the guy turns out not to be a licensed dealer.

Wow, that sucks man. Is there any chance you can fly to Houston stay for 3 days and post out near the dealership to see if you see him and then confront him? That seems to be the most plausible solution. Tracking down the guy is going to be easier than tracking down the car; for all one can know the lambo can be off in a remote part of new mexico or something. Seriously, I would get a motel down the street from there and just PI for a couple days until you can find the guy.
If I still lived around that area I would've done it for ya...

oh yeah, is the guys name John Leontartis?

No but im sure someone on here with access to a personal database can run his name through and find out if he owns any other homes to where the car can possibly be. All I have access to is LexisNexis...

Here is the value of their inventory at one time and at that time they reported their total inventory value to be about 3/5 of the price of Roy’s car.

It looks like the real property itself is owned by Zante Enterprises INC of 5406 Davids Bend Drive, Sugar Land,TX 77479-5700. I wonder if Zante is another of his entities or is a landlord.

I posted a link over at Houston-imports.com about the now stolen Murcie. It's a huge import board with members that live & work near that dealership. With some hope maybe some of those members will see the car somewhere in Houston (warehouse, repair shop, shipping port, etc...) & bring this whole thing to an end.

Just a thought Roy, you might want to have LOJACK systems installed in the rest of your inventory.
