as some of you may have seen, one of nasharty's pictures has his yellow rev counter glowing in the dark, when lights are switched on. i have a red rev counter in my f430, but it does not glow in the dark, when lights are switched on similarly. does any one whether it is supposed to glow (i.e., mine needs fixing), or not? my dealer does not know... and i'm sure one of you does!

Dont worry, its done by a setting on the car. When we got our F430, all the dials where set to a decent lighting level, so we left it.

Then one day we pressed soemthing and they all went out, we thought we had a loose connection or a electrical fault.

About 30minutes later (retracing what we had pressed), I set them back up. Basically, its the two buttons below the dials (in English its 'Mode' and 'Set').

I cant exactly remember how, but instead of getting the time / temperature by pressing them (try pressing one, then the other just after it), we got a little image of a light and a number, and we pressed one of the buttons and increased it to 30 (settings for dial lights go from 0 to 30, 30 being the brightest).

This increased the brightness, and we realised we had just put the brightness settings to default by accident. And it now all works fine!

Hope this helps (and makes sense), just i cant remember exactly how we done it because it was a few months ago. :) Although i know we done it as i described above.

It's described in the owner's manual. Same with the 360.

This was discussed in a thread a few months ago. I remember that the red does not glow at night and appears as if it was black.

    That's correct.

The procedure mentioned above by fun-meter is for changing the level of lighting for the dials, but either way, red tachs will not glow like yellow ones. Yellow tachs glow yellow at night, red tachs look black. It's normal.

Is it the same for all red tachs such as in the Enzo?

It is one of the reasons I chose yellow. I have difficulty "reading" the red compared to the yellow dial. Also, the red/black transistion is not as aesthetic to me as the brightly lit yellow tach at night. Just another opinion.

I had to go out in the garage and see if my yellow tack glowed on the F430.

Yes it does and it is awesome. well worth the price of 30 normal cars :)
