Could you check your wing to see if the black finish is glossy or matte? I have seen it both ways and believe it is more correct for the finish to match that of the other black painted areas of the engine cover, being matte or semi-gloss.

Also, does anyone have a lead on where the intake runner covers could be re-anodized? Mine have somewhat greyed and painting them is not correct as these should match the black louvers.

    Thanks

The wing is satin finish rather than flat or matt, it has a slight sheen to it like the boxer paint trim. As for the intake runner covers, do you mean the rectangular boxes? If so, they are fiberglass and painted like the spoiler. The rear air intakes for the air boxes are anodized aluminum and the other louvers are painted body colour not black. Often the air intake louvers are painted over and match the black surrounds of the air box covers which is wrong.

Hey Newman - thanks for your observation. When I referred to matte, I guess I meant satin, which is what I suspected the finish was (i.e NOT gloss). For those cars with color-keyed spoliers and grilles which I know was a separate thread regarding originality, I guess it would be the same paint as the rest of the car, so gloss.

As for the covers, they are the metal rectangular units with the foam insulation underneath. I will be doing a seach for an anodizer to make them match the aluminum louvers they neighbor. If anyone knows of a good one, pls pass on the contact info.

Those rectangular boxes are fiberglass, ive never seen a metal one before.

Hmmm - upon closer inspection, you are right, they are not pressed steel as I thought, however the underside that does not have foam on it feels smooth, unlike a fiberglass mould. Will take a better look in the daylight. If aluminum, then they would be anodized - if non-metal, I guess the same satin paint as the rest. Other thoughts?

They could be plastic rather than fiberglass but they are not metal of any type. Yes, paint them to match the spoiler if you want correct. The foam is not available anymore so bear that in mind before you peel the old stuff off and kick it across the garage floor.
