hey i did not read through the entire thread and not sure if this applies to 348 but i had probs with my 355s fuel and injection relays (L and M in my manual).

just throwing this out there. if the guys on this thread rule in as a possible source of the prob then they are easy to check. but in my case there were working sproradically despite me taking them apart and trying to clean them out a bit. i had to end up buying new ones.

I spoke to the shop today, and they told me that the symptons are indeed a clutch going bad, and nothing else would cause this. I am not having a lot of confidence with what they have said so far. So I will try the posts and see what happens.

A worn clutch will not stop the engine revving past 3000-4000RPM driving OR in neutral. :)

In neutral revving is no problem.

While driving and giving gas through the gears the car revs past 4k even goes to 5k, just the car does not react (accelerate as normal - it feels like one is stepping on the clutch and giving the gas pedal)

One of the posts mentions about the possibility of a clogged Cat. How do I check this?

WOW!! This is really hard to understand now. :p
So the car drives.......BUT when you push down the accelerator pedal, the car does not want to go?? Then that may be a slipping clutch....
I cant understand why it wont rev over 4000RPM though? It is VERY VERY difficult to try and diagnose this sort of problem on the internet. Wish we were there to have a good look for you mate. :)

Oh.........ok. Can you do a little clutch test for me please?
Hop in your car, start it up and pull the handbrake on tight. Put the car in 4th or 5th gear and try and drive off using some gas. Make sure you dont have anyone or anything in front of you when you do this. If the car stalls, then your clutch is ok. If the car sits there, does not stall, but sits there and revs the engine, then your clutch is worn out mate. Can you give that a try. Im starting to come under the impression that the clutch is slipping. After all that. :p

    Hey,

Yes the Car drives. My friend also feels it is slipping clutch. I drove the car again today, and just to clarify the car does rev over 4k, goes to 5k and beyond.

I see you are from Australia, how far from Wodonga and or Melbourne are you. My client M&M Mars and Kraft Foods have sites out there, and I have worked with a few mates out there!

So it revs fine, but not when driving? A little confusion in previous posts then. :p
That would be a worn then clutch brother. Do that test and let us know how you went. :)

get the car going in 5th gear arount 40mph if you can.
then floor it, see if the clutch slips.
you'll notice the rpms raise but the speed doesn't increase or increases slowly.

Vrupani, you are getting good advice, but you seem to be information-starved.

Your profile doesn't identify the area in which you live, and your posting history doesn't show the "story" behind your 348 (e.g. how/where purchased, condition, accident/theft/fire history of car, etc.).

I would bet that the more information that you can provide, the better advice you'll end up getting.

    Just a thought.

When Pap needs Ferrari parts............he enlists the services of Daniel at Ricambi. :D That is the only way to be sure to get the right part.....1st time, everytime, to keep PAP 348 on the road. :p

My Ferrari is the only one in town. Someone just bought a 348 Spider in Townsville, which is 1000km away. That would be the closest Ferrari to me. The rest are down towards Brisbane, around 2000km away. :)
