Maybe if the 430 was in reverse, the Gallardo cannot beat a 430........

both cars are close, I would say a 430 would edge it out but not by much, i've raced 430s in an 04 gallardo and won. i've also raced 430s with the same gallardo and lost. Its close either way. Gallardo feels more planted at 150+ for what its worth.

    I own a Gallardo SE. I own an F430.

If you have enough room, the F430 is faster. It's got more go in the top end, and can out do a 997 Turbo. If you are only running up to 90mph or so, the Gallardo SE can take the F430. The SE (and the 06's in general) have different gearing designed to specifically attack the zero to one hundred game.

But it's so close in any event, that it's hard to really definitively say.

At the end of the day, there is not enough in it to really make much of a difference either way. If you are still torn after just looking at them (I, personally, am not) drive both and see which has the feel that sings to your soul. Buying a road car based on one going faster or slower in a straight line but a few tenths of seconds is madness. They are both great cars. Each will be the right choice for different people. (Unless you're Emil, in which case you buy them both ;))

    175. But, to be honest, I don't really understand the thrill in going fast in an absolute straight-line sense. Lateral Gs are a million times more fun. I've had much more fun in the car at 50 mph than at 175.

Bingo... I like your thinking, bro. (Really tired of all the bickering over which car is a quarter second faster or whatever...) They're both insane cars and beautiful in their own ways. I'd love either one (we can't all be Emil, after all ;)), and at the end of the day it's a personal thing...

    Drive healthy.

having worked for both manufacturer, 06 Gallardo definitely has the advantage. Gearing and exhaust makes the difference - Rob, yup planted is a GREAT attribute.
