I am really surprised that Ferrari allowed Bose to prominently display their name/logo on the center speaker on the dash of the 599. I think that it should be removed and be left a blank speaker cover.

They are design partners on the audio...they were prominent on the Tour Cars........FWIW...

Like you though I have done a lot of projects where individual nameplates were not allowed......elevator companies always get away with it, though....

It is a pretty unique logo placement in Ferrari's history -- for example, the radios are made by others but when they are turned on, "Ferrari" flashes and not Becker.

In the industry their name is referred to as:

    "Buy Other Stereo Equipment"!

Now one has to be confronted by a trade name that's forced upon one!

I purchased my Spider last week (second Ferrai in 11 months) so I am in a holding pattern for a new Ferrari. I am told by my dealer that I will have a 599 in the 2008 year. That is perfect for me -- will be more options and all of the kinks will be worked out of the car.

I tried to deal on the 599 Tour car, as I need the mileage depreciation AND the aluminum welded skid plate! :D :D :D

    Congrats to you!

I thought it was "Buy Our Sh!tty Electronics"!

Whatever, can it be reprogrammed to say "Becker"?

I'm guessing this might be related to the no doubt large amount of money paid my bose to sponsor the challenge series...

I was being polite, but either way it speaks the same!!!

Harmon-Kardon would have been a better choice.

BTW, H-K AKA Sydney Harmon AKA JBL now owns Becker!!!

    Morgie,

You sell me your 430 spider when you get your 599 since there's no way they'll put a renegade such as myself on the 599 list, and I know you take very good car of your cars.

Bose, like B&O and HK and some others make some darned fine stuff. Not the best, not inexpensive, but pretty good.

Personally, I'd prefer to see Dynaudio speakers and Mark Levinson electronics ... but Bose is a major partner (read: sponsor) for Ferrari ...

I am REALLY surprised that this thread was even strarted!

Here Ferrari finally produces a fine performance oriented car
then to even discuss this is ridiculous IMHO!!!!

Talk about the engine, the suspension, the tranny but for
Christs' sake don't even give a second thought to a Plaque on
    the dash!

Wait, wait, let me get this straight...

You laugh about this thread being started and yet find it significant enough to start an entire thread about the existence of this thread on L Power?

    LOL

Exactly....If Ferrari FINALLY has a top drawer competitor..yet The
F-chat crowd is worried about dash Plaques?
It goes to the mentality. I don't think a topic like this would EVER
get started on Lpwr (except to poke fun )?

I see a half a dozen posters on this thread. To you that constitutes an "F-chat crowd?"

To the extent that this thread is stupid, making a thread about this thread is doubly stupid.

Jesus, man, are you that insecure?

it's obvious you don't KNOW me.
Anyhow am I to take it that you agree with the relative importance
of this thread as compared to all the possible serious, important
aspects of what appears to be a fine 12 cyl ferrari?

No, I think the topic of this thread is pretty irrelevant.

What I find positively hilarious, however, is the hypocrisy with which you state, "Talk about the engine, the suspension, the tranny but for Christs' sake don't even give a second thought to a Plaque on the dash!" and yet you create an even more pointless thread yourself.

If the goal is to talk about the cars and not the silly banalities that have no real relation to these cars, why, then, did you start a thread on L Power making fun of what people on F Chat are talking about? Surely that has no bearing on "the engine, the suspension, the tranny" of a Lamborghini - those items that you declare are legitimate for discussion, rather than "stupid crap." Or perhaps "Ferrari f a g sightings" and mocking other forum members does have some relation to what you deem to be the "serious, important aspects" of these cars? If so, I'd love to hear your explanation.

So they tied you into agreeing to sell them back your 430 to get you a 599?

I love this. What a basis for a restraint of trade action!

See why I am a renegade?

    Back on topic.

I did spend a happy evening at Lime Rock with the guys from bose who were there as part of the challenge series. they Did have their speakers which are impressively lightweight since they are made of something I believe called "neodymium". Their magnetism to weight ratio is high, so the speakers are very light. So I think there is some marketing $/lightweight sports car thing worth the two companies selling.

I think that B&O, HK, Bose are all similar - decent but not audiophile. I do think that both B&O and Bose are somewhat innovative in engineering terms. They don't come from the high end of Mark Levinson but then again its a 3K rather than 30K option. Incidentally I have the HK in my CLK55 which is pretty good and the "badged' Mark L in my wife's Lexus GL470 - that's also pretty good. Neither is high end hi-fi.

For me my 599 will be my daily. Therefore it needs decent sounds. It needs to a) deal with talk radio and b) play "Let me put my love in you" by AC/DC without creaking too much. For audiophile time I stay at home.
